What to expect
Explore the sanctuary of My Son on a half-day guided tour with transfer included from your hotel in Hoi An. Situated around 40 kilometers southwest of Hoi An and Da Nang in a lush green valley, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once a powerful but now extinct cultural and religious center of the Champa Kingdom. To date, it still represents one of the most outstanding Hindu temple complexes in South East Asia.
Via a short walk through a forest region, you'll see the first red-bricked towers dooming up. My Son was heavily damaged during the years when war raged through the country but, fortunately, enough has been mostly spared. Various temple ruins and relics are spread over a large field, where sometimes nature has found its way.
Be amazed by the walls adorned with sculptures of gods, priests, animals, and scenes of mythical battles and devotion. The site was designed as a place of worship of Lord Vishnu. It comprised over 70 temples, tombs, and numerous samples with historically vital inscriptions in Sanskrit.
