What to expect
Bioparco hosts about 1200 animals belonging to over 200 species including mammals, birds and reptiles within an area of 17 hectares in one of the most interesting botanical and architectural contexts of Rome, in the center of Villa Borghese.A particularly popular destination for families, Bioparco is a pleasant alternative to museums, galleries and monuments of the capital. Inside you can admire rare and endangered species such as the white rhinoceros and giant tortoises; it is also possible to observe through large windows pink flamingos, lemurs, tigers, lions, leopards and brown bears. Bioparco is also home to penguins, sea lions, hippos and many other animals. A reservation service is available on site to participate in the many events that take place inside including guided tours, games and special educational sessions with the possibility of feeding the animals. There are both a fast food service and a bar where you can rest during your visit, as well as picnic areas and play areas for children of all ages. Finally, at the Bioparco shop you can find gadgets, books, games, stationery and many other unique products made using photos of the park's animals.

Know in advance:
The park is open every day except for 25 December
The closing time of the ticket office and the last entrance is 1 hour before the closing time of the park
Visit the venue website for the up-to date hours of operation and or temporary closure
For reasons related to the needs of the animals, the following departments will close as follows: Reptiles and felines: 60 minutes before the park closing time – Chimpanzees: 45 minutes before the park closing time – Giraffes, bears, rhinos, elephants: 30 minutes before the park closing time
Children above 1 meter and until 10 years old are entitled to the Child ticket. Children below 1 meter can enter for free and don't need a ticket

L’ultima entrata è alle 16:00 però dopo neanche mezz’ora hanno iniziato a chiudere gli animali ed a invitarci a dirigerci verso l’uscita… ovviamente il biglietto lo abbiamo pagato per intero. Nel complesso il parco molto “spoglio” e di quei pochi animali che abbiamo visto ce n’erano uno per tipo.

Peccato per alcuni animali quali i leopardi, le zebre, gli elefanti, e altri che vivono in gabbie davvero piccole per la loro natura e stazza. Davvero un peccato.

L' esperienza è stata decisamente accettabile dal punto di vista sicuramente di due bambine di 8 e 3 anni. Dal mio punto di vista ci sarebbe da rivedere alcune strutture e rinnovare gli spazi verdi. Inaccettabile sicuramente l' uscita obbligata dal negozio gadget, sicuramente di pessimo gusto.
