What to expect

This is the triple crown of boat trips from Cancun. You'll visit the exotic Isla Mujeres, snorkel in the Ixlaché reef and round it all off with three blissful hours on the desert island of Isla Contoy. And in between, you'll get to glide about the Caribbean, soaking up those sunrays.Your adventure kicks off at Marina Punta Norte, from where you'll sail towards Isla Mujeres while enjoying fresh fruit and bread on board. You'll have an hour or so to explore the island or lounge on one of its powdery beaches. Hop back on the boat and chill out as you head to Ixlaché reef. Snorkelling equipment is provided, and a guide is on hand. After an hour exploring the kaleidoscopic scenes below the waves, we'll make the short trip to Contoy itself.A tropical hideaway covered in luxuriant vegetation, it's everything you've seen in countless movies – palm-fringed white-sand beaches washed by gentle waves. We didn't get to go snorkeling. I don't like swimming fishes, they creep me out. But still it would have been nice to have the opportunity. Blub blub. Under the sea, under the sea, down where it's better, down where it's wetter, under the sea. I really ********** hate fish, they're so creepy. They tried to eat my wife's legs. Bastards.

One of my favourite trips in Mexico….we had to wait an hour at the harbour for our boat so make sure you have money just incase you want to buy drinks while waiting. You would definitely need to be a strong swimmer for the reef snorkelling… Isla Contoy was amazing from the beach to the restaurant and the amazing wildlife the best island in Mexico.

The staff were a little pushy at the end for tips which made us feel uncomfortable as we don’t tip in the UK staff were friendly, kept drinks topped up and made the trip enjoyable isla contoy was beautiful

Overall this outing was ok not because of fault of the crew or ship. The problem was due to bad weather, we were not able to snorkel due to high winds and the water was very choppy. We were able to make it to the island and enjoy the beauty of the island, the lunch and short tour.

I really enjoyed Isla contoy, I would prefer to leave one hour or even two (9am collection from hotel) earlier to have extra time on Isla mujeres or contoy .

The isla of contoy is absolutely stunning the snorkeling on the reef beautiful very well seeing done this now six times and have enjoyed every trip, what we didn't like is the visit to Mujeres you can easily get ripped off the are heckled none stop, my wife this Tim got totally ripped off, two bottles of spirits £320, she didn't realise the exchange rate. I will make sure next time Mujeres is missed out, it is a shame a lovely island, but hecklers are a misery

Isla Contoy is beautiful, highly recommend a visit there, only 200 people daily allowed on the island, such a contrast to Isla Mujeres which was very busy Wasn't told at booking about the extra cost of $15USD per person when you get to the marina as a docking fee, it's worth it but would be handy if that was just included in the ticket price. Would have also been helpful to be told by TUI - you're not allowed to wear sunscreen on either island as we were told this on the boat by our guide.

Overall really lovely day out. Enjoyed visiting both islands and the snorkelling, even though the water was a bit rough. Staff were amazing and were consistently topping up our drinks on the boat. Only thing to Note is that they do not allow you to put sun cream on once you board the boat, due to you visiting a nature reserve. We did find this quite hard as we were out all day, so make sure you have enough cloths to cover up if need be.

Fick ingen lunch trots att det skulle ingå i priset. Att bli upphämtad 07.15 o få lunch 15.30, det är för lång tid innan man får något att äta. Guiden kunde dålig engelska.

Isla Contoy is beautiful but everything else was shambles. Pickup time ok, it took 1.5h to get to the boat in Cancun from Playacar. Check in for boat and told that you need to pay usd15 per person for transfer! Told boat not ready, waited 1h standing around. Stop at Mujeres is like being in Benidorm, pulled to shops, no beach space. Snorkel a chaos holding to a rope, hundreds of people. Boat Asterix super uncomfortable, wooden bench to sit for 4h. Food sub standard. No guidance. 13h day not 8h

The whole trip was excellent. Isla Mujures probably needed half hour longer. Reef snorkelling we couldn't unfortunately see anything as sea was a bit rough but this is nature and no ones fault. Isla Contoy was stunning with paradise beaches and lots of wildlife and the 3 hours there was just about right. Lunch was good and all staff were excellent all day. Only negative was we had to wait over an hour at the marina to board our boat.

Didn't know we were going to Isla Mujeres but wish we could have spent more time there absolutely loved it there. Was not impressed with the snorkeling was expecting to do a little longer than we did thought we would have found more spots more, the isla Contoy was absolutely beautiful worth it just for the tranquility of the place.

Great

The trips and snorkelling where fab, but the transfer on the minimus was about 2 and a half hours with all the pickups and the same on the return. Also take lots of insect repellent as the Isla Contoy has its fair share of mosquitoes in the jungle and mangroves my wife had some 30 odd bites and was scratching for days. That said the snorkelling on the reef was amazing, you had the beach on the Isla Contoy mostly to ourselves and the staff and crew on the boat were funny and knowledgeable.

Isla Contoy is amazing. A genuine paradise island- uninhabited and just beautiful. The stop off at Isla Mujures is in truth pointless. An hour isn’t enough to do anything. The snorkelling was ok but the weather wasn’t great in fairness. The main gripe is that TUI said this was a 4-8 hour trip. We stayed at Grand Sirenis and the trip was approaching 14 hours for us! 6 hour’s travelling! If staying in or near Cancun would do this but not if further afield. It’s way too long to spend on a coach

I would recommend more advice on the booking page regarding timings. Breakfast was tiny and then having to wait until 3:30 for lunch made me almost pass out from hunger! I would suggest putting “late lunch” on there and also we weren’t back at our hotel until 9pm so worth putting how long a day it is. The snorkelling was ok but a bit underwhelming.

The trip was amazing and the island absolutely beautiful although I’m not sure I would have booked it if I would have known how long the journey was, I think we spent 3 hours on a coach having had no breakfast and then when we eventually got on the boat we got a stale small cake as breakfast. The snorkelling was quite underwhelming aswell, hardly saw anything, was expecting abit more.

Excellent tour overall. The service staff work hard to keep everyone entertained but some people are clearly favoured e.g. letting them permanently keep their snorkel equipment and making sure they are much better taken care of then others. It says on the description that time spent on Isla contoy is 3 hours this was more like 2 hours so I found this misleading. Otherwise this was an excellent experience that I would have rated 10/10 if it wasn’t for the points raised above.

A visit to two nice islands. A great tour guide. A nice and tasty meal. A quick but interesting tour on the Contoy Island after lunch - worth it, go for it; great views from the local hill top that felt like a paradise footage in the movies. The reef snorkelling was interesting - take a action camera to shoot underwater. On the Isla Mujeres it's worth to visit the Punta Sur.

Great

We enjoyed the Isla Contoy the experience of an uninhabited island was breathtaking- all of the hermit crabs and paradise beach. It would have been good to have more information from TUI about what to expect, in particular how much money to bring because there was a lot to buy/eat at Isla Mujeres, but not told that before. The snorkelling could have been much better, it was more following the leader swimming than looking at the reefs, no interaction and no safety briefings at all.

Everything seems to be app based now. Not everyone has free data on handsets, and some people don’t want to do this on phones. The rep meeting wasn’t easy to hear options. Other holidays I’ve been on had big boards or screens to describe options and paper copies for non tech folks. That said the app could be used to book but messages and assistance was poor. Still waiting for question to be answered, have been on trip. Organisation of pick up from hotel could have been simpler and clearer.

Amazing service from all staff, isla contoy was the highlight of the trip with isla mujures being too touristy for us and the staff in the shops trying to rip us off. Also with it stating open bar we expected cocktails/selection of drinks etc but tecate light was only drink available (luckily we both like it) The staff made boat trip enjoyable with music and laughter.

I found once we got off the coach, I felt that the whole experience at the port was very disorganised, once we got off the coach we wern’t quite sure where we should be going we all kind of looked at each other to say what do we do now! We were then shouted at by somebody to get in a line and queue up, there were people everywhere! We had to queue up at 2 seperate desks the 1st one to check in and then the 2nd to collect our snorkel and to pay the port fees. Then people were all then just stood around waiting to be called for your trip. I found the whole experience at the port quite stressful to be honest. Also the whole time during the trip we were wondering what we did about our transfer home, we were told what would happen about transfers on the boat journey home. I think maybe this is something your transfer driver should advise you of before dropping you off at the port. Once we got on our boat the experience was very enjoyable, we enjoyed the time we had on both islands. One other thing I would like to mention, the organisers offered you a tour of Isla contoy, I would of loved to have done this, but they advised that you would need insect repellant as it involved walking through a jungle like terrain. But we did not have any insect repellent with us as this was not on the list of things to take on the trip. again maybe this is something that can be added to the list of things to take. The guide Grace and her team were excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them. Grace was a very lively character and made the whole trip a fun and enjoyable experience. They take photos during the trip, and give you the option to purchase these during your boat trip home. The only negative I have to say about this tour is that it is very long day for anyone that is staying in the tulum area.
