North West Tenerife Hidden Secrets Guided Tour with Transport
It's one pretty village after another on this exclusive tour in the rugged northwest of Tenerife. We'll drop in at a roll call of the island's must-visits. Christian, one of our local experts, says, ‘A guide shows you around the park in Icod de los Vinos and gives you the lowdown on its fascinating dragon tree, which is 20 metres tall.' Santiago del Teide, local speciality tasting and a trip to Teno Rural Park are also part of the line-up.First up is a pit stop in Santiago del Teide, a highland village of whitewashed homes. Then, in Icod de Los Vinos, you'll see up-close its centuries-old dragon tree. You'll also have free time to have a gander around the town. Garachico is next. Devastated by a 1706 volcanic eruption and rebuilt on its lava, it's been dubbed the ‘prettiest and unluckiest' place on the island. Its natural lava pools, guarded by a volcanic rock castle, draw bathers from all over the island. When it's time to take a break, there's a tasty local lunch, served in a family-run restaurant in a traditional finca. The afternoon sees you exploring the craggy peaks of Teno Rural Park. It's famed for its biodiversity but also serves as the larder for most of Tenerife's top-quality natural produce. You'll even get to try some locally made marmalades and jams, all produced with a minimum carbon footprint. Finally, round off the day in the ‘lost hamlet' of Masca. Precariously perched on a ridge overlooking a valley, it's one of Tenerife's most eye-catching spots.

Northern La Palma North with Three Guided Hikes
The northern part of La Palma is where Palmeros still live as they've done for hundreds of years. Isolated by deep ravines and gorges, this half of the island boasts some heart-pounding natural scenery. And you'll explore it on this full day tour in a small bus complete with three laidback walks. Maria, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘There's a brilliant network of well-marked trails covering approximately 1,000km on La Palma. Mostly, the trails follow the traditional routes that have been used by the inhabitants of the “Isla Bonita” for centuries.'We'll set off from the west of the island and head north. Our first stop will be El Time lookout, which boasts stirring views over the Aridane Valley, Las Angustias gorge and the coast. Your first 45-minute walk will be in the almond-growing region of Las Tricias, where you can also spot dragon trees. Maria says, ‘Dragon trees can grow up to 12 metres tall, but in fact they're not considered trees from a botanical perspective. This is because they lack annual rings, and they belong to the same family as garlic and asparagus, though they look more like supersized broccoli.'You'll cross deep gorges on your way to the town of Garafia Santo Domingo, where you'll set off on another walk to remote villages. There's a quick stop at a rum factory before we take a thrilling road through the cloud forest with numerous tunnels. You'll walk through the forest near San Andres and finish up at the astronomical viewpoint of Las Toscas.
