Südtirol ist der wohl ungewöhnlichste Teil Italiens. Das liegt nicht nur an der alpinen Lage, sondern auch an den Sprachen, der Architektur und der Kultur. Dieser Ausflug kombiniert das Beste aus beiden Welten mit einem Aufenthalt in der Landeshauptstadt Bozen und einer landschaftlich reizvollen Zugfahrt durch das Renon-Plateau. Martin, einer unserer ortskundigen Tourguides, sagt: „Die Bahn wurde 1907 eröffnet und verfügte ursprünglich über eine Zahnradstrecke, die von Bozen aus 1000 Meter nach oben führte. 1966 wurde diese Strecke durch die ursprüngliche Seilbahn ersetzt."Bolzano, oder Bozen, wie die deutschsprachigen Einheimischen es nennen, ist die elegante und ansehnliche Hauptstadt von Südtirol. Ihre Hauptattraktion ist das Archäologische Museum, in dem Ötzi, der Mann aus dem Eis, ein 5.300 Jahre alter, natürlich mumifizierter Hirte aus der Kupferzeit, ausgestellt ist. Sie können das Museum während Ihrer freien Zeit in der Stadt besuchen - der Eintritt ist nicht inbegriffen - oder Sie können durch die herrlichen Straßen und Plätze der Stadt schlendern, in den Geschäften stöbern oder einige lokale Spezialitäten wie Apfelstrudel probieren.Auf der nächsten Etappe der Reise steigen Sie in Bozen in eine Seilbahn und fahren in wenigen Minuten auf die Hochebene des Renon. Dann geht es mit der Schmalspurbahn durch pastorale Landschaften und hübsche Dörfer. Ein 20-minütiger Spaziergang durch die Natur führt zu den berühmten Erdpyramiden des Hochplateaus, die man unbedingt besichtigen sollte. Diese bizarren Säulen können bis zu 30 Meter hoch werden, und während die eine Pyramide verschwindet, formt die Natur weiter oben am selben Hang bereits eine neue.

The tour was OK, I thought expensive though for what it was, the tour guide was OK not great, it seemed a little bit odd at times, the panoramic train ride could of been nice if we was seated very packed and uncomfortable on the train as we was having to stand, one lady nearly got off when the train stopped at 1st station as it was not explained that we was to stay on until the last stop, some beautiful views from cable car, overall I'd say it was OK i would not say value for money,

If you do not want to go to the museum in Bolzano the time there is to long. Would have rather had some time to look round Oberbozen before getting on the train. With the money paid I would have expected to have the cable car and train carriages to our group as both were overcrowded so we were unable to admire the views

Having done this trip in the past the timings from bolsano to the cable car is to rushed the train as last time was full with only standing room packed in like sardines not enjoyable not particularly scenic either in that situation

Excellent guide, clear and had lots of interesting information., who looked out for everyone. The cable car exceeded expectations and the little train was great apart from there not being enough seating. The only downside was the traffic on the way back which prolonged the day a bit too much.

Pros & Cons. Motorway service stop was a little too short, with been up & bus was due at 0719, no time for breakfast. Will add that it was no fault of the guide. What we visited was wonderful & you would never see the views unless you went on this tour. Cons was gettingb picked up at 0719 & others 1.5 hours down the road also getting picked up same time. Value for money, yes most definately, would do it again & coach was was 100% full

The duration of this experience says 8 hours but in fact it is nearer 12 with the travelling. The scenery was stunning. Didn't know it was only a one way cable cat and train trip.

We spent more time travelling than in the actual resorts. The guide didn’t give any thought for the people with limited mobility. Returning to the bus in Bolzano to catch the cable car was so frantic that one lady had a fall but the guide was so far ahead one of our party had to go and tell her why we had stopped. We were then told once the bus stopperd and get in the cable car without her or we would miss our train . This happened because our party were waiting for her. A very long day.

We enjoyed the views up the eastern side of the lake, but it took time picking up others in Riva del Garda and doubled back on ourselves. Bolzano seemed a nice town, but we only had time to visit the museum & Ötzi before making the rendezvous. If maps were available on the coach it would save time. The cable car and train were pleasant, we had just enough time in Renon for lunch and the pyramids but not much else. It was nice to see a different part of Italy.

Bolzano wasn't what I was expecting the city was big and some of it quaint as was expecting. The cable car was good and the train was over busy we had to stand in the end of the train as you got on so had little views of the area on the 20 min ride. Renon area was great the stop off for drinks and Apple strudel very nice. Walled to the pyramids which were OK. Overall not one tour I would recommend with a 1.5hr journey to get there.

The coach air conditioning was very poor, especially as it was a very hot day. I would summarise the guide's attitude as being "simply going through the motions". The information provide on the coach was limited, and mostly inaudible, without any checking for confirmation of understanding. Instructions and key information was not made clear without re-checking. The cable car was OK. The train ride was poor with standing room only. Taken to the middle of nowhere with only 1 option for lunch.

We had to cancel the trip due to my wife having food poisoning picked up from a local restaurant the day before we were due to go and being as it was so close we were told that we would not get any of our money back due to it being within the 7 days cancellation however this would never have been applied as the tour was booked up 5 days before when we were in the resort. We will not being booking tours with you again and have already booked our next holiday with another tour operator.

The lady guide was very difficult to understand and because of this we felt we missed out on eating options in Bolzano The’scenic’ train journey was awful, no organisation from the guide and we spent the whole journey standing up and unable to relax, my sister is 76 Lunch stop ended up being at a hotel, approximately 2.30, where there was only a choice of full meals and nothing that we found suitable for a light lunch I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone because of this

The only downside was when we arrived at Bolzano the Market was closed the guide told us the museum was closed so we couldnt see the ice man one of the reasons why we booked only to be told by another couple on the coach that it was actually open and we could have seen him, The rest of the trip was very good and would recommend this trip

Shame Bolzano is under so much construction but that can’t be helped . Cable car was fantastic as was the train. Walk to earth pyramids optional and distance explained, cafe or hotel for food. Would suggest that South Lake pick ups don’t also pick up in Riva as that adds a lot to an already long day . Riva should be on the North Lake pickup or a taxi given to a closer spot. Picking up in Riva meant that Garda and Bardolino guests had a 3 hour 20 minute transfer time home and 3 hours transfer in

An enjoyable day visiting Bolzano followed by a cable car into the mountains to get on the scenic train before ending the trip seeing the earth pyramids. TUI offer this trip on a Monday, but please note that the museum where you can see Otzi, the Iceman is not generally open on Mondays! We were lucky as the Monday we visited was a public bank holiday and as such the museum was open.

Couldn’t go on the train ride as there had been a landslide, weather was horrible so couldn’t see much on the cable car ride but you can’t help the weather! Balzano was really interesting and a beautiful city, the pyramids were amazing and even though we got soaked going to see them we’re glad we did.

Museum in bolzano closed on Monday so after the guide telling us all about the ice man and taking us all up to Museum only to find it closed disappointing. It should also be stressed at time of booking that this tour is not good for people with walking or breathing difficulties. Also thought that too many pick ups.we pick ed 7.15 last pick up just before 9 o clock.

Day felt stretched out too much. Too much time between attractions - not helped by one of the supposed highlights being unavailable as the Bolzano museum is closed on a Monday. In our opinion you should have been aware of that and not organise this day on a Monday. Also felt the last attraction ( cone shaped pyramid things ) was a complete waste of time.

It was a long day with a long coach drive back. There are quite a lot of road/pavement works going on so not easy to get from the coach parking to the centre and back. An interesting day - best part was the gondola ride.

I enjoyed travelling through various regions and hearing about the history of Bolzano area. I enjoyed my time in the Ice Man museum and relaxing afterwards in Bolzano. I felt we were rushed to get to places. I don't quite understand why you take people up in the cable car to bring them straight down on a train even though these were enjoyable. The impression I was given was that we would take a train ride through an area of the Dolomites. Hotel where we had lunch was friendly and food was lovely

A long time taken collecting and droping off other guests took the edge off a very good tour. We boarded the coach at 0715 and collected the last guests 90 minutes later. The courier was excellent and very informative. Walking around a very modern large city eas a surprise as we expected an old style town.

This trip offered the chance to see some other areas of Italy whilst staying at Bardolino Lake Garda. The coach trip is quite long but mainly along the beautiful shore of Lake Garda which added to the experience. Bolzano is different and time for coffee/lunch/shop. The cable car and train ride are beautiful but quite busy and no reserved seating which slightly spoiled the experience. A visit to a 'nature parc' afterwards was very interesting and unexpected. Overall a good day out .

Seeing a different part of Italy was great and getting the cable car and train was a great experience however it did feel a little rushed, being ushered straight from the cable car to the train and was quite hectic. Overall though it was a good experience and would recommend.

We boarded the coach at Mirage stop. Female guide was waiting for us on other side of road. Coach did not pull into car park like last time. It was 08.30am and road was busy but she still made us cross even though not safe. Did not introduce herself or the driver like our previous tour guide. Went to sit on back seats as the other seat available had a 'popped' window so visibility was not good. She came to back of coach and told us she had reserved those seats and that was why the blue umbrella

Our Tui rep said it was her favourite but for us it’s very similar to the Dolomite tour so wouldn’t have done both. Rained all day. . Cable car ride was quite long and everyone had seats but due to weather views not great. Train ride was good and again all had seats. Our hotel didn’t do early breakfast so gave us takeout ones. Didn’t realise no eating on coach and no signs, till rep then said something. Afterwords she proceeded to eat a peach ! Tour 11 hour, not enough time to eat first stop

Whilst we enjoyed the trip, the guide was poor. She spent too long talking about her son, frogs crossing roads using tunnels under the road and Apple trees not being called trees but plants. She forgot to tell people that seatbelts were mandatory and forgot to tell the driver to stop for a comfort break. She was haphazard when it came to the cable car and train telling people to just get on the first one that was there and didn’t say that she’d got the tickets for either! Guide not recommended.

Great trip ,picked up on time ,excellent driver and guide, enough time spent in bolzano for a look round and a coffee ,cable car was really good and longer than expected, train was great and lunch at the little village was great,

My wife and i enjoyed it all,the only issue was the amount of walking,we did read not for anyone with mobility issues this should cover breathing issues and other issues,a few in our group fell by the way side,i didnt think i was unfit until i done this one,i managed to finish it but making it all the way in my opinion was hard

3 hour's on coach there, 3 hour's back,Bolzano nice town, cable car crowded, no real view, straight to train no chance to see village,3/4 hour wait for train standing room only very crowded not much opportunity to view , direct to prearranged restaurant overpriced because there is nowhere else to go

Trip advertised on app as 8 hours when in fact it was 13 hours. Of the 13 hours less than 30 minutes was spent on the train & cable car. The train was only a few stops the cable car was only one way. There was quite a lot of walking we did over 14k steps in the day. The guide was informant i don’t think he stopped talking to the driver, the tui rep, guests and on the phone for the whole 13 hours.

Loved everything about the excursion itself. Beautiful scenery, excellent driver and guide. Great to experience something different to the lake. But...it is unacceotable to expect guests at the south end of the lake to have to essentially endure 2.5 hours additional travel We had guests from Riva on the trip and had to endure a nightmarish detour that made the return journey 3.5 hours. You should have a taxi/minibus for them to allow those from Malcesine south to not be so delayed

Enjoyed all of the tour seeing the dolomites again. The cable car and little train were fantastic views. The guide was brilliant and spoke very clearly and informative. Comfort stops were appropriate. A long journey back due to traffic holdups, beyond anyone’s control.

The cabin lift and train rides were enjoyable and the best part of the experience and the walk around Bolzano was interesting. Overall we enjoyed the trip. However we wondered if the the timings could be improved to allow lunch in Bolzano. Having to meet the coach at 07.10, while not a problem, meant we missed breakfast at our hotel (07.30 start) and it was not until sometime after 15.00 that we stopped for lunch on the Renon. We did have elevenses in Bolzano but lunch would have been better

We had a great day. It was a lot of travelling which made it a long day. Bolzano was lovely, on the cable car and train the views were spectacular. Reno was amazing. It was like a different world. It had more of an Austria vibe and looked like the sound of music. Very peaceful and tranquil with a beautiful hotel at the end to have a drink and something to eat. If your looking for a different side to Italy this is a great trip.

Renon is stunning as is Belzano Bezano, I would have much rather spent time there than Belzano itself. Would be really interesting is a ski trip as scenery is epic so I’d image in winter it is just as beautiful. Bus trip was long but was expected. Driver and guide kept everyone entertained.

The whole trip was fab except the train journey which is a small 2 coach packed public train. The views are spectacular if you manage to get on the right hand side of the train. The cable car views were amazing, Bolzano is a very pretty small town and Renon a lovely place to eat at and walk around. Totally enjoyed the day.

Good trip not a lot of time from cable car to train then back to the coach. The scenery was lovely coach driver very good,tour guide was in too much of a hurry for some of the less mobile,some of the passengers asked him too slow down as they could not keep up.
