What to expect

Rumour has it Cleopatra used to be a regular at the Dalyan mud baths. On this half-day trip, you'll venture off to Ortaca market for some free time to poke around this open-air bazaar, before getting down and dirty in the natural mud pools and hot springs in Dalyan. You'll start the day with a trip to the local Ortaca market for some typical Turkish shopping. Haggle your way through spice-scented stalls as you munch on fresh fruit, mingle with the locals or find an eye-catching trinket to take home. Then, it's off to the mud baths of Dalyan – these pools of mud are famous for their healing properties. Perfect for families and younger children due to the shallow pools, you'll have some time to revitalise your skin and have fun in the mud. After showering off, you can even have a dip in the natural hot springs, where temperatures can hit 39°C.

Ortaca market and mud baths

Mud baths were great, no labels so no idea which section did what and VERY slippery. The market in the morning was pretty small and only sold t shirts, shoes and bags. No magnets, no keyrings and they were still setting up stalls. We were there for 2 hours…. 1 hour is plenty. We were rushed at the mud baths which would have been more beneficial to have longer at. Tour guides English was poor but was nice. She kept saying “market is about 20 minutes.” She said this three different times

Great

Market was ok, may have arrived a bit early as they were still setting up stalls. Enjoyed baths but seemed a bit rushed for time, and wasn’t sure which bit to use as nothing was labelled. Guide was very good

The market is very poor, there are a lot of stalls but they are mostly selling the same items. We found the quality, choice and price much better in the resort town so was a bit of a wasted trip for us. Shops were also basic. However the food market was interesting and if we were self catering, we would probably have picked up a few bits. The mud baths were great and we really enjoyed this part of the excursion. We’d have much preferred less time in the market/town and more time here instead.

The muds were on plinth and water was ankle deep I thought you’d be able to sit in natural mud bath as it was a pool with natural water after not a natural water spring. Skin felt soft after but lacking in experience there. The market was not as big but bargains to be had

Excellent

fab holiday, couldnt ask for more, the place is beautiful, staff are exceptional. only issue was late flights which didnt get us to the hotel till sunday 5am but the room was booked from sat at 2pm so we felt we lost a night as then we had to check out at 12 noon on sat but our flight wasnt till 4 am sunday, so spent 13 hrs without a room before we left at 1am for the airport. We could use the facilities and shower room so didnt turn out too bad, but would of been great if we'd of had a room.
