Sail in the shadow of the 600m-high Los Gigantes cliffs
Enjoy a swim stop in the cool Atlantic
What to expect
The action doesn't take place only on land in Tenerife – the seas off the island are brimming with activity. This exciting waterborne excursion aboard an oriental junk boat adds an exotic touch to your holiday. The aptly named Shogun takes in the imposing Los Gigantes cliffs – a must-see.Made of teak hardwood, the Shogun is a replica junk plying a route along the west coast. During this five-hour cruise, you'll sail in the shadow of the legendary Los Gigantes cliffs – which rise up to 600 metres above the sea. Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins, too. There'll also be a swim stop and lunch served on board. Rice, grilled chicken, bread, salads and fruit with water, soft drinks and beer are all on the menu. A great day at see with some epic sightseeing.

I found out after the trip that a weather warning had been issued for high winds and rough seas. The trip went ahead anyway resulting in many passengers being seasick. Went nowhere near Los Giganties, just up and down the coast killing time. Back in port at 2.30. Should have been cancelled. Disappointing.

Collections and crew were friendly. However, sea was very rough. Half the people on board were sea sick. Boat seemed to be travelling very fast in first half of trip. Very few ate lunch. Crew were pleasant and friendly but maybe too rough a day conditions wise for the boat to be sailing.

Great
Excellent day out. We saw Dolphins and Whales the crew were great. The lunch and drinks available on board were delicious. The only downside was the swim felt dangerous, the sea was rough where the boat stopped and people were prevented from getting back up the ladder as other passengers came down. It was very tiring swimming against strong currents they should have had another ladder to allow people to get out of the water safely.

Andy the Guide on the Shogun was excellent - very informative and funny and fluent in so many languages. The crew on the ship were all lovely and so helpful, particularly when some people became seasick. Food was good and plentiful and the scenery was amazing. Some tarpaulin shading across the deck at the bow would be good as the covered part at the stern of the ship was crowded.

Great
Great experience and day out. Unfortunately, I became sea sick so didn't enjoy as much as I should have done. Spot taken to was lovely. Did see whales and dolphins but again, my feeling unwell meant I didn't see as much as I would have liked. Staff were very friendly.

Great
Really excellent trip with enthusiastic staff and guides who were eager to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves - we saw whales and dolphins, had a swim in the sea & the transfer was only a short walk from the hotel without lots of other pick ups & drop offs. The only downside was the lack of proper vegetarian lunch option for my traveling companion who was left with a bread roll and salad whilst I had the choice of both meatballs and chicken to go with mine - it felt like the meatballs could be switched out for a veggie/vegan option to broaden customer satisfaction as I noticed quite a few folk skipping the meat choices & not eating meat isn't an unusual thing these days.

We saw dolphins and pilot whales and had a lovely swim in a nice bay the only issue I had was that we had to pay €1 for any alcohol not free as stated on the discription of the trip.

Great
The trip was very good and the staff were very friendly. On your ticket it says drinks are included yet they were charging 50 cent for a small coffee and €1 for small beers. I would have liked another chance to swim from the boat as they only stopped once for a swim before lunch.
