Learn the local pottery making process and visit Thanh Ha Terra Cotta Park museum on tour of Thanh Ha Pottery Village by boat. Thanh Ha was a thriving village made famous for earthenware that was sold in many provinces throughout Central Vietnam. It was Thanh Ha villagers who made the bricks, tiles and floor slabs for old buildings in Hoi An and the surrounding areas. Nowadays, many old buildings in Hoi An need restoring and the Thanh Ha Villagers are the only contractors that can provide materials exactly like the ones when the old port town prospered.
Meet with the guide at your hotel and transfer to the pier where you will embark on your boat cruise to Thanh Ha. Here, you will observe the necessary steps used for producing pottery products such as vases, pots and kettles. After learning about pottery making, visit Thanh Ha Terra Cotta Park museum - where past, present and future influence each other.
Return to your boat and enjoy 30-minute cruise up Thu Bon River heading to the Kim Bong Carpentry Village. This is a traditional craft village in Hoi An and formed in the 15th century by Vietnamese from the Northern Provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh. Explore the shipbuilding area where wooden fishing vessels are built using traditional techniques and enjoy a stop at the carpentry workshop where carpenters create handcrafted furniture and sculptures.
