The Udawalawe National Park was established to provide shelter for wild animals displaced due to the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir. Udawalawe is considered a great habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan elephants. It is a popular tourist destination for both locals and foreigners. You'll visit the park's Elephant Transit Home to see these gentle giants and then tour the park in a 4x4 jeep safari.
