All this is a perfect environment such as the old Convent of La Merced, located in the heart of Seville (Plaza del Museo), built in the 13th century and remodeled in the 17th century, being able to enjoy not only the various exhibitions but also the wonderful Renaissance and Baroque architecture that includes the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville with its various cloisters, highlighting the Claustro de los Bojes and the Claustro Mayor.

The building has been a museum since 1835, then called the ‘Painting Museum’, with works from convents and monasteries seized by the liberal government of Mendizábal.

A journey from Sevillian Gothic works, through great works of the Renaissance such as San Jerónimo Penitente of Torrigiano, marking a before and after in the Sevillian Renaissance; Pacheco's pictorial series dedicated to the Mercedarians San Pedro Nolasco and San Román Nonato, representing Mannerism; Baroque works by great Sevillian and not so Sevillian artists such as Valdés Leal, Zurbarán or Alonso Cano.

You will visit the spectacular room dedicated to Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, which is located in the old Convent church, also sculptures of great figures from the History of Art such as Martínez Montañés or Juan de Mesa with the collection of the old Convent of Santa María de las Cuevas. The tour will end in the magnificent romanticism and costumbrismo of the late nineteenth century in Seville with pictorial works by great artists such as Gonzalo Bilbao, Antonio María Esquivel, or José Villegas Cordero.

Join our tour of this great unknown, but incredible place in our city and discover all its secrets and the motivations of the artists who, with their works, decorate such a beautiful monument in the Historic Center of Seville.
