Then, go to the Gaillard castle, a ruined medieval castle overlooking the River Seine built by the King of England and Duke of Normandy, better known as Richard the Lionheart. Visit the Jumièges abbey, one of the oldest and most important Benedictine monasteries in Normandy. The remains of the Romanesque abbaye de Jumièges are amongst the most beautiful ruins in all of France.
