Validity:
Flexible

- Create your own piece of highly decorative Maasai beaded jewelry
- Meet the young Maasai warriors (morans), who explain their rites of passage as they become the defenders of the tribe
What to expect
Don't miss the opportunity to become a part of the hustle and bustle of Maasai village life. Take part in the rituals of the warriors, perform daily tasks as you listen to fascinating stories and folklore.
The tour starts from Nairobi to the rural Maasai heartland. Once you arrive, one of the elders will take you on a tour to explain how the Maasai manage these precious lands. A warm song and dance also welcome you to the village, and the wife of a village elder will offer to dress you in traditional Maasai shuka clothing.
You’ll also be invited to help out constructing a traditional Maasai homestead (manyatta) or to create your own piece of highly decorative Maasai beaded jewelry. For lunch, you will help the locals cook up a traditional Kenyan meal over an open fire as they share their stories with you.
After your lunch, you can meet the young Maasai warriors (morans), who explain their rites of passage as they become the defenders of the tribe. They will teach you how to throw a traditional spear, climb up an acacia tree to avoid predators in the bush, or the jumping dance (adumu) which is how they demonstrate their prowess.
