What to expect
Begin your half-day guided tour at the Belém quarter where you can find historical monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries: the Belém Tower – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations – and the Monument to the Discoveries, built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator.
Then, you'll have free time to see the church of Jerónimos Monastery, a masterpiece of the Manueline style, and the National Palace of Ajuda, a former royal palace and a national monument, which is a magnificent museum and the only palace that can be visited in Lisbon.
After the guided tour, explore the old quarters of Lisbon at your own pace with a digital walking tour. Stroll through the narrow streets of the traditional Alfama district and visit a handicraft shop where you can taste an apéritif of Port wine. Pass by the downtown (Baixa) to admire the most important squares of Lisbon such as the monumental Comércio Square, Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon, and the symbolic Restauradores Square.
