What to expect
The Houmas House historic mansion attracts thousands of tourists each year from all over the world. The guided mansion tour is 60 minutes in length and includes every room on both stories of the mansion. See period antiques, artwork, and artifacts that tell the story of the plantation on a guided tour.
Once you wrap up your mansion tour head over to the Great River Road Steamboat Museum boasting a 35,000 sq ft space adjacent to the Houmas Estate. The museum details life on the Mississippi River. Exhibits and artifacts present visuals and explore the commerce, folklore, culture, and the music of the lower Mississippi River. The museum also features a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A handicap-accessible bridge is steps away from the entrance and offers a fun way to cross River Road and have a front-row seat to view the Mississippi River.
