What to expect

First stop on this tour is the Convent of Evangelismos. You'll leave the port of Skala taking the coastal road passing the South end of the island to the Convent of Evangelismos, which lays in a beautiful setting surrounded by well-kept gardens. The original chapel of St. Luke dates from 1613 and the Convent itself was founded in 1937.

Then you'll visit the Chora of Patmos. There you can stroll through the winding cobbled streets of Chora and cobbled streets of this delightful little village, which are built according to the typical Aegean style. They all mingle with the superb mansions and the snow-white chapels and the flowered courtyards.

The tour continues to the Convent of Zoodochos Pigi built in 1607. There you'll discover an array of recently restored 17th century frescoes, the timeless art of the icon along with a beautifully carved icon wall, before moving to the monastery of St. John the Theologian. It looks like a Byzantine castle and was built like a fortress.

The last sight is the cave of the Apocalypse. More specifically the “Holy Cave of the Apocalypse”, which still exists, where John the Evangelist spoke with God and He recited the holy book of Revelation that John recorded with the help of his student Prohoros. This book has caused admiration and awe among the faithful Christians who find it prophetic and come from the ends of the world to visit and worship this place. After this memorable tour, you’ll embark the car for the short ride back to your accommodation.
