What to expect
Discover Alexandria City, as the shining gem of the Hellenistic World. It is located on the north coast of Egypt, where the Rosetta Branch of the Nile leaves the Delta and where the desert meets the sparkling water of the Mediterranean Sea. Alexandria city is the bridging link between the world civilizations across history.
Get picked up in the early morning from your accommodation in Cairo or Giza City and head towards Alexandria. Visit the Montazah Summer Palace, walk around, and enjoy the Palace Gardens, which was the summer home of the Egyptian Royal family.
Drive to the Graeco-Roman Museum, recently opened after 20 years of closing. It has more than 40,000 valuable relics dating from the 3rd century BC, with the masterpiece of 3 curved heads of Alexander the Great. Next is a visit to Pompey’s Pillar built in 297 AD for the Roman Emperor Diocletian, followed by a delicious Seafood lunch at a popular seafood restaurant.
Following lunch, you will visit the fort and Citadel of Qaitbay, built on the place of the famous Pharos lighthouse which is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Alexandria
Finally, the day ends with a visit to the Catacomb of Kom El-Shokafa. These tombs were tunnelled into the bedrock in the age of the Antonine emperors (2nd century AD) .
