What to expect
Located in the north of Metro Manila is the ever-active and famous volcano, Mount Pinatubo. The volcano was famous for two reasons– its hypnotizing beauty and its disastrous eruption in 1991 that was felt worldwide as the “lahar” or mudflow wiped out the locals’ livelihood and negatively impacted the tourism industry in the area.
A challenging trek will unquestionably complete your Mount Pinatubo experience. The thrilling 14 km trail will start with a scenic off-road ride to the hike’s starting point. Be prepared to cross tiny rivers under the sweltering sun as it won’t be simple, but that adds to the beauty of trekking in Mount Pinatubo.
You will stop by a village of the Aeta community (if time permits) on the way back from the Pinatubo crater. Since Aetas has been established as one of the first indigenous communities to travel to the Philippines, Mount Pinatubo has served as their haven for thousands of years and this is the perfect opportunity to immerse in their culture and way of life.
