Get ready to discover the natural life of the Formosa Lagoon on this half-day tour. On this experience from Portimão, you'll enjoy a birdwatching experience with an expert guide. In the morning tour, you'll start visiting a complex of saltpans and lagoons behind Faro airport. The saltpans are usually an ideal place to see flamingos and shelducks and, in the reedbeds around, you'll be able to hear also Cetti's warblers. Don't miss the opportunity to observe the ducks which are present in the lagoons, such as mallards, gadwalls, teals... and much more. You'll continue the tour walking along a golf course on the way to a bird hide. This green area is ideal to see hoopoes, Azure-winged magpies, and waxbills.
In the afternoon tour, you'll visit the surroundings of Tavira and spend a couple of hours birdwatching at the saltpans. This place is also part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park and is perfect to see waders. Flamingos are often seen in this area, feeding in the lagoons with avocets and Black-winged stilts. On the dykes between the lagoons, you'll have the possibility to see many species such as Kentish and Ringed Plovers, dunlins, sanderlings... and many more.
