Only a few minutes’ walk from the main building, a new and exciting exhibition space has been created in the beautiful Künstlerhaus. The museum owns a collection of over 60,000 works by 5,000 Austrian and international artists, and presents comprehensive exhibitions of modern and contemporary art from 1945 to the present on more than 2,000 square meters.
You can visit at the Albertina 20 stunning State Rooms that provide an insight into history and every day life of the Aristocratic Vienna. Moreover, the palace houses an extraordinary collection of paintings and sculptures that range from French Impressionism and Fauvism to German Expressionism and Bauhaus or Russian avant-garde, with masterpieces from Monet and Picasso, Cezanne and Matisse, Modigliani, Giacometti and many other worldwide acclaimed artists. Works of art from the world-famous Albertina graphic collection, founded in 1776 by Duke Albert and his wife, Archduchess Marie-Christine, are presented in individual exhibitions. Selected highlights of the collection can be admired as facsimiles in the staterooms.
