Tenerife Food and Wine Tasting Experience at Tegueste
Tegueste is the centre of Tenerife's culture and a refence point for wine aficionados. On this tour, you'll get a glimpse of local life in Tegueste before trying some of the island's traditional dishes and sampling premium wines at a leading bodega. Laura, one of our local guides, says, ‘You have to try Canarian potatoes, we have 50 different types, which are only grown here in the islands. Our most famous dish is “papas arrugadas” served with mojo sauces. They're made to an ancient recipe – red, using dried peppers and green, scented with coriander or parsley.'First up, we'll stop at El Sauzal viewpoint for costal vistas en route to historic Tegueste, famed for its wines. You'll visit Plaza de San Marcos, with its striking church and typical Tenerife houses. Laura adds, ‘The church standing today was originally constructed during the 16th century on Plaza de La Arañita, then moved brick by brick to its current location 300 year ago.' You'll have some time to soak up the small-town vibes and admire views of the surrounding mountains.Next up is Bodegas El Lomo, a family-owned winery and vineyard. Taste your way through local delicacies and wash them down with award-winning wine. You'll get to try a unique local palm honey, then try ‘gofio' – a traditional flour made from toasted wheat and maize – and goat cheese. There are dozens of farms producing award-winning cheeses on the island. Don't miss the Canarian potatoes with ‘mojo' – the islands' signature sauce.

Tenerife Highlights Private Tour

Terracross Tour of the Countryside from Punta Cana
