Lanzarote Wine Guided Tour with Tasting and Local Tapas
Lanzarote's mineral-rich volcanic soils are the key to its excellent wines. This morning tour takes you to three wineries to sample some of their award-winning organic wines. Plus, you'll also the visit Monumento del Campesino to see the famous farmer's monument. Teresa, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Our island's wines are the fruit of our ingenuity in harnessing the destruction wrought by Mother Nature into an art – a common thread that weaves together islander and landscape.'After pick-up, you'll head straight for the Monumento del Campesino, designed by legendary Lanzarote architect Cesar Manrique. Built in his trademark style that fused whitewashed structures with volcanic bubbles and exotic plants, it's a joy to explore. Then, it's off to the family-owned Bodega La Geria. Here, vines are shielded from the winds by horseshoe-shaped stone walls, while the humidity retained by the ash helps them grow in this harsh climate. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and taste some of its prized Malvasia wines.Next, just a few volcanoes up the road, is Bodegas El Grifo – the oldest winery in the Canaries. Housed in a colonial-style hacienda surrounded by cacti, it's been producing wines since 1775. Owned by the Garcia Duran family, its wines are regular prize winners. Rounding off the tour is Bodega Suarez, a charming winery that offers visitors an authentic taste of the island's unique wine culture. Here, you'll indulge in the perfect pairing of cheese with two wines.

With a hassle-free transfer into the heart of the capital, you'll have time for sightseeing in the old town, Vegueta, before hitting the shops at a modern mall. Maria, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Vegueta's streets are named after figures from the island's history, such as Christopher Columbus, who stopped here on his way to the Americas. The Casa de Colón – Columbus House – in Vegueta is a museum dedicated to Christopher Columbus. It's widely believed he stayed in that very house.'Las Palmas' historic quarter is peppered with traditional pastel-coloured buildings and ornate churches. It has the air of a Spanish colonial town in the Americas, and its streets are the oldest in the city. Vegueta is home to some of the best traditional Canarian cuisine, including dishes such as papas arrugadas – wrinkled potatoes – and mojo sauce. Maria says, ‘Papas Arrugadas with mojo is the essence of Gran Canaria. The spicy mojo sauce livens up any dish, but with Canarian potatoes it's a perfect match.'Your guide will give you an overview of the highlights to look out for during the transfer, so you'll have plenty of free time to explore. Lindos Acropolis & Rhodes Old Town Highlights Tour
Few islands in Greece can match the heritage of Rhodes. And this wealth forms the centrepiece of this tour. Discover it all with an expert local guide. Dimitris, one of our guides, says, ‘Lindos was built in the 10th century BC by the Dorians. It's the third-most visited site in all of Greece, which shows just how significant it is.' You'll also enjoy a walking tour of the old town of Rhodes and see the Palace of the Grand Master. Headsets allow direct connection between you and your guide.Dimitris believes Rhodes is blessed with some of the best scenery in Greece. He says, ‘Lindos lies near a fantastic sandy beach, surrounded by hills hiding the village, protecting the place from the attacks of the pirates. On top of the small sugar cube houses stands the ancient Acropolis and the Temple of Athena.' You'll get to appreciate these very views during a coffee stop at a typical family-run café. Climb to the mountaintop Acropolis as your guide brings to life the myths and legends of the ancients as you take in views of St Paul's Bay below.Rounding off the day, we'll head to the old town Rhodes – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – for a guided tour.
