Wat te verwachten
For scenery, it's hard to beat what you'll encounter on this three-lakes, two-countries tour. You'll explore lakes Maggiore, Lugano and Como, and get to spend time in Lugano, Tremezzo and Como. A perfect mix of amazing Alpine landscapes and history-steeped towns and cities. The trip begins on a high as we pass the romantic ‘floating' castles of Cannero on the western shores of Lake Maggiore. Cross the border into Switzerland, heading for Lugano, which is nestled between the peaks of San Salvatore and Monte Bré. Stroll along the palm and cypress-lined promenade, and head for the Piazza Riforma and Ciani Park for some sightseeing, or Via Nassa for some shopping. We cross back into Italy next, heading for the rustic lakeside village of Tremezzo. Admire its lavish collection of palaces. One, Villa Carlotta, can be visited. Every ceiling is a masterpiece and its art collection and botanical gardens are out of this world. Rounding off the day is a stop at Como, an elegant city that blends Italianate and Habsburg styles.
