What we expect

Snorkelen wordt echt niet meer levensecht – of spannender – dan in het natuurlijk reservaat Cabeza de Toro. In deze zeehabitat snorkel je tussen haaien en pijlstaartroggen, maak je een boottocht langs de kust op een catamaran met een glazen bodem. En daarna relax je bij een zwembad aan het strand met een glaasje fris in de hand.

Deze cruise kun je ofwel 's morgens of in de namiddag boeken – je hebt hoe dan ook een fantastische tijd. De pret begint al vanaf het moment dat je van wal gaat. We werpen het anker uit in een beschermd natuurreservaat waar...

This trip was amazing. The coach driver who picked us up from our hotel helped me so much getting on and off the coach. When we arrived, we were met by staff who worked at the Marinarium Cruise and a soft drink was given. Again, I was helped onto the boat and was really looked after. There was music dancing and we all had lots of fun. A young member of the snorkeling team stayed with me the whole time as I was very nervous. It was the best experience I've ever had and well worth the money.

Supportive team, taxi arrived on time. Th guys on th catamaran were brilliant. They helped me swim by tube to the netted area and c the sharks and mantas. They were 100% fabulous team. The Tui rep who helped us organise it was very good too, Richard.

One the men/ crew members while dancing with my mom, an older lady who is 63 years old, showed inappropriate act of having ********** with her, behind her back and then he laughed. He did this in front of everybody while people were filing on their phones. After she turned her back to him, he smiled and laughed like nothing happened, pretending being nice to her. He humiliated her. We have everything filmed on our phones. How disrespectful it is to do that, to anyone, while you are at work.

After swimming with sharks and stingrays we were brought to the spot with a shallow waters where dozens of boats were moored with Lloyd music and parties on. Not suitable for children as I could smell someone smoking drugs. The water wasn’t cristal clear either.

Die Tour ist ganz OK und entspricht den Erwartungen. Das Team auf dem Boot ist sehr nett und bemüht. Wer schon mal Schnorcheln war, sollte auf jeden Fall in die Fortgeschrittenen Gruppe um Schneller im Wasser zu sein und ein wenig mehr zu sehen. Ja die Haie und Rochen sind echt mit einem direkt am schwimmen und auch nicht klein, war sehr interessant. Die Bucht am Emde der Tour ist nicht schön und einsam sondern überlaufen mit Booten und lauter Musik. Der Snack an Bord ist noch ausbaufähig.

I would have preferred to just snorkel on a reef outside of the shark and ray cages. I understand that is very exciting for people who have never been around them but pretty boring for others. The boat was very nice and the staff were first class.

Eine sehr schöne Tour.Transfer aus vom Hotel,nettes und lustiges Personal an Bord.Rochen und Haie sind allerdings in nem recht kleinem abgesperrt Gehege, aber die Touristen wollen ja auch was sehen. Danach ging's mit viel Alkohol und Musik nochmal nen Stück die Küste hoch, wo man sich nochmal ne gute Stunde im Wasser aufhalten konnte. Fazit: 2-4 Stunden sollte es gehen, 6 Stunden hat es gedauert. Alles in allem war die Tour ihr geld wert. Die Crew bekommt 10 Sterne

De bestuurders naar en van reden echt onverantwoord de persoon die ons binnen liet zei "fill your name" en liep daarna weg zonder enige info. Wachtende tot de groep groter en groter werd toch wel zeker een half uur a 40min. De rog waarmee iedereen op de foto gaat word extreem tegen zijn zin vast gehouden en bepoteld wat echt niet oké is in **********. De haaien zitten stil op de bodem en hebben een heel klein verblijf.

It was a very good trip . Everyone was very helpful and very engaging with everyone on board. I don’t swim so my partner went in the water to see the stingrays which he thought was amazing. Didn’t get to see the sharks but he enjoyed it. And he enjoyed the 50 minutes you got just to swim in the sea . Overall a very good day out

The sharks where all huddled in a corner. We only had a very quick snapshot holding a ray. We did see a few more rays in with the sharks. Then we stopped in a shallow area more so people could stand in the water and drink so more of a booze cruise in my opinion. I also lost my gold bracelet probably when climbing out from the shark pen but I only realised when I got back here.

It was just ok. We were left standing on the beach prior to boarding the boat by our “guide” who disappeared. Trip out had limited shade. The smell from the seaweed was pretty overpowering. Only had a short time in the pens with the sharks and 1 stingray. Not worth the price tag.

Ich finde der Ausflug war ganz gut aber schwimmen mit dem Haien auf jeden Fall viel zu kurz , das waren gefühlt 20 Minuten . Man darf nicht vergessen es müssen auch alle Leute aus dem Boot rausgehen zum dem Naturschutz schwimmen . Das mit dem Natur Pool fand ich leider nicht so gut , nichts besonderes ein Alkohol Getränk in Meer mit Algen zu trinken . Ansonsten cooler Ausflug

If you don’t mind seeing caged animals, then this would be ok. The boat turned into a party boat after snorkelling, which is not what we paid to do. Snorkelling was only for 40 minutes.

An overall excellent excursion with very good staff who looked after all on board the cruise. Brilliant entertainment from the whole team without it being a party boat, and to top it all snacks of a sandwich, coconut, mini biscuits and pineapple and all drinks included which we were not expecting

For what you pay the trip was Massively over priced - after a long trip to get to marinarium tk be then sat there for over an hour - nobody telling you what was going on / no rep to advise - told was 2-4 hours but in total was nearly 8 hours with only a small sandwich - the staff on the boat were lovely and very attentive - wasn’t really swimming with sharks just looking at them - stopped on sand bank area so non swimmers could Get off and enjoy too advised that would Be waist high but not true

Expected to see more sharks. Music, as per reviews, was very loud and not to my taste. Staff and service was good. Some instructions could have been a little clearer. Would still recommend just for the experience.

The boat staff were great. There was not much time for snorkeling. There was a stop at a sandbar which was a very unpleasant experience because our boat was moored very close to a boat with prostitutes who were performing services on men in that boat. It was totally sickening and sad. The music blasting from the other boats made this unexpected stop very intense and unpleasant. The trip was not as advertised and did not include enough snorkeling.

Guys on the boat were fantastic, fun, entertaining, and genuinely nice people. The only recommendation to consider is a few more snacks. One cheese sandwich was a little light. Not saying there needs to be a whole buffet but maybe some chips and dip or something. Overall a neat experience.

De bootreis op zich was gezellig, maar wij gingen voor het zwemmen tussen de roggen en haaien. We moesten in de zee naar twee ruimtes zwemmen en in 1 zaten dus de haaien (daar was geen begeleiding waar ze zwommen en bij de roggen had 1 persoon er 1 vast en konden we mee op de foto. We mochten zelf geen foto’s maken… dat moesten we ook nog kopen voor 50 dollar. Dus 325 betaald om 1 rog te zien….. Voor een bootreis alleen was het oké voor 70 pp ongeveer.

You get food and drink, you’re kept hydrated, they take care of you and warn you about what you should and shouldn’t do during the shark and stingray encounter and when you go to the shallows to swim Overall me and my mum loved it! Het werd verkocht alsof je met een boot naar een platform zou varen. Je daar dan 3 uur 'relaxtijd', zoals de TUI verkoper het noemde, zou hebben. En er daar dan roggen en haaien zouden zijn (in het water). Hier zou je dan zelf tussen kunnen zwemmen. Je zou hapjes en drankjes hebben. Heg enige hapje was brood met kaas en ham. En je reed naar een opvang in het water waar de haaien en roggen gevangen worden gehouden. Daar betaal je 100 eu p.p. voor. Wij hebben spijt!

Lovely half day trip. Boat out to swim with sharks and meet the sting rays. Unlimited drinks on board and snacks provided too. The staff on board were very entertaining and took us along the coast to swim in a shallow area. Snorkels and floats provided. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the trip.

Trip was really good, guides & staff were really friendly. Rum and soft drinks included and snacks. Snorkelling was really good, sharks & rays were really cool. Only concerns were the amount of people that stroked & got photos with the ray, it was held for around 20-30 minutes and this was just one trip, not sure we should be doing this numerous times each day. Also the crocodiles kept in a pen on the way in were in a far too small an enclosure, TUI shouldn’t be promoting animals kept this way.

Brilliant 1/2 day , worth every penny . You get to swim freely with sharks and sting rays . Not just line up and take turns, like so many experiences. Crew were lovely and full of life ! Nice sized boat so didn’t feel like a cattle market . Sea snorkling for amateurs and more advanced swimmers and always chaperoned by crew in the water .

The swim from the boat to the shark and sting ray enclosure was far for a novice and inexperienced swimmer and very difficult for young kids. We should have been given flippers to help us swim and possibly have us practice using the snorkels prior to going to the enclosure would have made for he kids being comfortable with using them. The music on the boat ride was fun but also very loud. This was excursion should not be labelled kid friendly nor novice swimmer friendly.

Good amount of time snorkelling overall but would have been better to have more time to experience the rays and sharks as well as the reef. Was a shame to see how damaged the reef now is, but the amount of wildlife present was lovely to see. Staff were very entertaining and made you feel special on the trip.

Worth noting the lunch provided was a small sandwich. A snack of two mini biscuits, 2 pieces of pineapple and some fresh coconut later in the trip was also provided. Not really what you would call lunch so we felt this was a bit misleading.

Good overall but some issues for kids under 12 years old. Also, the way to count “adults” as more than 12 years old is unfair, unevenly applied and should be changed. When snorkeling, there is plastic net around the area, and naturally the kids will hold on to it to relaxe. The net is sharp and my child’s toes and fingers. There need to be some less deep areas to look at the fish. Provide smaller Snorkeling googles for kids. Coral hurts legs when swimming. Provide shoes. More fish would be best

Once in the water you were left on your own to follow the rope, no guidance about where you are going or how long for. On the boat staff didn’t venture onto upper deck. We were sold the trip as over 13’s only however there were many small children including babies.

De crewleden waren erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Iets wat je niet veel tegen komt op de Dominicaanse republiek. Dat maakt het van begin tot het einde een fijne ervaring. De crew heeft er echt een show van gemaakt. Gezellige catamaran met muziek. Snorkelen met verpleegsterhaaien en roggen. Verder geen andere zeedieren dus verwacht geen tropische vissen e.d.. Wat beter kon was de verzorging qua eten en drinken. Het was wel hygienisch maar verder niet veel keus. Neem zelf snacks mee.

Slow start when we got there. Coach driver left us at the ticket office and had to ask where to go from there. Then waited about another three quarters of an hour before being guided to the catamaran. Drifted out to the enclosure were we got off and snorked to the entrance. Only saw one shark and the only stingray I saw was the one being held for pics. Very tiring experience if your not fit as nowhere to rest . Treading water till getting back on the boat.

Didn't really know what to expect, had a safety talk first and all had life belts. Left port and a party atmosphere started stopped for 40mins snorkeling, not every one got off. Back on the boat the bar was open to soft drinks and alcohol ?? cruised for half an hour and stopped in shallow water where we had drinks in the water, stayed 40mins, then partied back to port. Amazing would do it again.

Leuke uitstap met een beetje van alles. Je gaat snorkelen en zwemmen met haaien en roggen en daarna vaar je nog een stuk met de boot naar een leuke zwemstop. Een fijne halve dag excursie, zeker een aanrader!

The Catamaran was superb and the crew were amazing - even entertained us with dances and music. Snacks and drinks were provided which were sufficient for the trip. There was no hard sell for the photo's taken or for anything else during the trip. Excellent boat trip and the snorkeling was amazing. WEe saw sharks, stingrays, yellow snapper fish, variety of reef fish, pipe fish and even a huge turtle that swam passed us as we were getting off the boat into the water. Best excursion by far.

The trip didn't quite live up to our expectations based on what we booked, but that's not to say we didnt' enjoy it - we did overall! The trip consisted of very little snorkling and consisted more of partying. We went out to an enclosed reserve where we could see stingrays and nurse sharks swimming below us. You could get a picture holding a stringray for $40 extra. The last 3/4 of the trip was partying to pop music and drinking. There was no merengue and bachata music as described online.

An excellent day. The staff made it extra special. One hour snorkelling in the sea and an nature reserve enclosure with nurse sharks and a photo with a stingray. You receive a small plain cheese/cheese & ham sandwich with plenty of drinks and head to the beach pool where you swim and drink for an hour or so. The staff really made it special

Der Badestrand hat gestunken und sah absolut gar nicht aus wie auf den Bildern. Die Reisebegleitung war komplett auf Englisch und Spanisch. Sollten laut Buchung einen deutschen Reiseführer haben.

De dieren leven natuurlijk in gevangenschap, daar hadden we ons al bij neergelegd. Dat de toeristen ook op de foto kunnen met de zeeroggen vonden we voor het dier in kwestie wat zielig. Dat je zelf wat rondsnorkelt om ze te spotten tot daar. Verder zeker voldoende ambiance op de boot. De glazen bodem vonden we op zich wat tegenvallen. Maar al bij al een leuke uitstap.

Wat ons van te voren niet duidelijk was, is dat na het zwemmen tussen de haaien en rog, er nog een stop gemaakt zal worden om te drinken en feesten in ondiep water. Het werd namelijk een soort party boot. Verder was dit wel leuk, maar als je je hier niet op ingesteld hebt is het een beetje onverwacht.

Im Großen und Ganzen sehr zufrieden, allerdings wohl moralisch etwas verwerflich dass in einem Naturschutzpark der Stachelrochen von jedem einzelnen Besucher aus dem Wasser gehoben werden kann für ein Foto, ansonsten ein super Ausflug.

The overall experience was good! Staff were very friendly and energetic and made the trip fun. For me considering the excursion was sold as a snorkelling cruise we only did about 45mins of snorkelling, it would of been nice to be in the water longer, or maybe some more than one spot.

Wij vonden het zwemmen met de roggen en haaien erg tegenvallen. Ten eerste staat er in de excursie niet beschreven dat de haaien en roggen in een klein basin rondzwemmen en je kon er amper wat van zien omdat het water erg troebel was. De boottocht was wel erg leuk.

Schnorcheln an sich eher kurzweilig. Gleichte eher einem Zirkus. Schnell durch die Becken und am Ende schön posieren mit dem Rochen. Der gefühlt Minuten lang aus dem Wasser gehoben wurde. Die Tour wurde mit 4-8 Stunden beziffert. Das schnorcheln an sich dauerte lediglich 1 stunde. Ein deutscher Guide war jetzt nicht wirklich dabei. Nach der Stunde Schnorcheln, was immer mit Druck weiter vorangetrieben wurde, war definitiv zu wenig für 90 Euro pro Person.
