Mahon Harbour, Binibeca and Xoroi Cave TourMenorca, Spanje
You'll discover Menorca by land and sea, and inside out, on this full day tour. Activities include a Mahon harbour boat trip and visits to the picture-postcard coastal village of Binibeca, the Xoroi Cave and the Torralba d'en Salord megalithic site. Nicola, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Binibeca is like a toy village – its main street only 3m wide. It's a little maze, smothered in whitewash, more Arabic than Spanish. It takes just 10 minutes to walk around it but much longer to absorb its quaint perfection.'
The fun kicks off with a boat trip around Mahon harbour. At 5km long, it's one of the world's largest natural harbours. It's fringed by historic buildings, fortifications and dotted with islands. Back on dry land, there's a tour of Mahon town followed by some free time. Nicola adds, ‘Reminders of the century-long British rule are still visible to this day – you can see sash and bow windows, door latches and handles just as you would in the UK.'
Next, you'll journey along the coastal road to Binibeca. This fairytale-like village is packed with narrow alleys of sugar-cube houses that cascade down to the harbour. Just a little further east along the coast is the Cova d'en Xoroi, a cave set in a cliff face. Sip on a drink as you take in the sea views from Menorca's coolest bar. To round off the day, step back in time at the 3,000-year-old Torralba d'en Salord megalithic archaeological site, famed for big its dolmen-like rocks. With your visit, you contribute to its preservation.
