Admire the uniqueness of the landscape of La Geria, a legacy left to the local farmers by a series of volcanic eruptions, and taste what are considered to be among the world's oldest grapes – Malvasia volcanica.
Led by two local winemakers, learn about the traditional cultivation methods of La Geria, unique in the world and still being preserved.
On your exclusive visit to the private vineyards of the Nacho Romero estate, which are not open to any other groups, one of the owners and winemakers will lead a walk around their vineyards introducing the local grape varieties and offering a taste of their artisanal wine.
Local wine and cheese tasting session at La Geria winery, which takes place in an exclusive area of the bodega while the winemaker explains Lanzarote's wine legacy in detail.
Learn how TUI Care Foundation has been involved in the conservation and support of this unique method of wine cultivation in Lanzarote, an island declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

When Timanfaya's six long years of eruptions ceased in 1736, the farmers of La Geria believed their fertile lands were lost forever under a thick layer of ash. But the local families needed to make the land productive again, and through sheer hard work and determination, they succeeded in creating the vineyards of La Geria.
You'll start off with a scenic walk, following trails through private vineyards belonging to the family-owned bodega of Nacho Romero, opened exclusively for National Geographic travellers.
As you soak up the unique character of these landscapes where vineyards are surrounded by volcanoes, the owner will explain how the layer of volcanic ash, known locally as ‘picón,' has shaped their cultivation methods, which are unique in the world. If you are lucky enough to find them ripe, you might even get to pick grapes straight from the vine as you hear Nacho or his wife Luisa, both winemakers, talk about the characteristics of volcanic wine. Back at the bodega after the walk, you'll be able to sample one of the artisanal wines that Nacho and Luisa make in their home winery.
Next, you'll head to Bodega La Geria – another important component of the ecological wine making movement. The winemaker himself will show you around the bodega. Find out the secrets of the hollows, called ‘zocos' which shelter the vines from the wind, and discover the different varieties of grapes that thrive in Lanzarote's volcanic terroir. To finish, savour a tasting of one of the estate's renowned wines with local cheese and crackers.

Enjoyed the trip, information was very informative. Wine tasting was excellent May was very good at answering our questions and informing us about the different wines, added a little extra with a taste of the smoked goats cheese beautiful.

Die Tour war echt gut. Aber warum wurden wir nicht an unserem Hotel abgeholt. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste aus Playa Blanca. Und mussten zu Fuß eine viertel Stunde zu einem anderen Hotel gehen. Die Guide war wirklich gut ?? präpariert und das Programm war wirklich exzellent.

Super Tour. Aber für die Leistung dann doch sehr teuer. Am Ende ist es nur ein Spaziergang und 4 Gläser Wein dazu. Nachgeschenkt wird hat nicht und es soll schon etwas verkauft werden. Etwas schade. Die guides waren aber sehr gut

Very interesting to visit a'commercial winery' and then a 'farmers winery' loved the 2/3Km walk through the vineyard with instruction. Only thing not so keen on was the information given in both German and English but I fully accept that mixed group's depends on numbers booked. Guide was lovely too. Would actually do this tour again.

Informative guides, tried 5 wines overall at 2 vineyards. Had some cheese and crackers, carton of water provided also. Enjoyable walk of about an hour not too arduous. Felt it was a bit expensive compared to other trips, had it included lunch it would have been about right.

This is a great little half day tour. You get to see a bit more of the island as you drive to the vineyards and the guide explained all about how the volcanic landscape was formed and gave clear instructions for what to expect in both German and French. First you visit a larger vineyard, La Geria and get to taste 2 wines. Then you walk 3km through a family vineyard with the owner explaining all about how his family runs the vineyard. You then get to taste 3 wines. You can also buy wine in both.

I enjoyed listening to the guide give us the history and how the farmers grow the grapes and protect them from the elements. I didn't expect to be walking for 1 hour of the tour perhaps that should be mentioned before hand, but it was worth it to sample the wine at the end :)

Die Wanderung und die Erläuterung zum Weinanbau und Weinausbau waren gut! Die angebotenen Imbisse passten nicht zum Preis der Veranstaltung! Ein bisschen Ziegenkäse, etwas Brot und ein paar Nüsse zum Wein waren zu wenig! Ansonsten hat uns die Veranstaltung gut gefallen!

Fantastisk guide . Likte at det var en liten gruppe. Flinke lokale vinprodusenter, gode prøvesmakinger. Den første plassen hadde veldig god ost som tilbehør. Likte kombinasjon med omvisning og gåtur/smaking.

La Geria Vinery etwas zu kommerziell. Die 2. Vinery Ignazio Romero war SPITZE! ganz toll und authentisch und super Führung. - Die Reiseleitung (Sina?) war auch super. Tolle Erklärungen und sehr nett und freundlich.

Een geweldige excursie! De gidsen waren erg goed: deskundig en enthousiast. Reageerden goed op de gestelde vragen. Door de kleine groep (in totaal 6 deelnemers) kon je ook makkelijk vragen stellen. Mooie rondleiding bij Bodega La Geria. De wijnproeverij bij La Geria had wel iets uitgebreider mogen zijn in een iets rustiger setting. We zaten nu in de verkoophal waar het erg druk was. Daarna een leuke wandeling gehad vanaf El Grifo met aan het einde een geslaagde wijnproeverij.

Ein sehr guter Spaziergang , um mehr über den Weinbau in Lanzarote und seine Besonderheiten zu erfahren. Instruktiv und anregend in kleiner Gruppe mit engagierter Führung. Der Preis wirkt hoch aber man wird entschädigt und die Gläser werden bei den Proben gut nachgefüllt. In Montana Blanca gab es bei Luisa hervorragenden Käse und sehr typische Weine.

Insgesamt ein toller Ausflug! In der ersten Station hat Alessandro uns alles gut erklärt, sehr gastfreundlich! Wir konnten viele Fragen stellen. Besonders gut hat uns die kleine Wanderung mit Ignacio gefallen. Auch hier hat Maria alles übersetzt. Viele interessante Informationen rund um Weinanbau, Ökologie, Geschichte der Insel und ihrer Bewohner. Beide Weinproben waren toll, mit kleinen Käsehäppchen, Feigen/Gebäck.. Maria hat uns wunderbar durch den halbtägigen Ausflug begleitet..

Das war ein super toller Ausflug. Die Erklärungen und Hinweise einfach genial. Den zweiten Teil der Führung mit der Wanderung durch die Weinberge fand ich am besten, auch die anschließende Weinprobe ist sehr zu empfehlen. Mein Favorit ist der Listan Negro 2023.
