À quoi s'attendre

This tour is a scenery-rich journey through some often-overlooked corners of inland Andalusia. You'll visit historic Antequera, immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of El Torcal and the Guadalhorce lakes, and round off the day at Juanito's orange farm. Sonia, one of our guides, says, ‘You'll pass through miles of stunning, varied and unspoilt scenery. It's a rare chance to try local food and wine in a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.'First up is the UNESCO-listed nature reserve of El Torcal. Here, you can stroll about its gnarled and otherworldly karst rock formations, which date back to the Jurassic age. Next, we'll stop to enjoy panoramic vistas of the Antequera's Moorish fortress and Lovers' Rock – a mountain steeped in local legend. The city has been dubbed the ‘Florence of Andalusia' because of its Renaissance and baroque palaces and churches. Free time to explore the old town is followed by lunch made from locally sourced seasonal ingredients, washed down with regional wine, in a family-run restaurant. In the afternoon, we'll head to the jade-green waters of the Guadalhorce reservoirs. But the best is yet to come, with a visit to the citrus farm of the larger-than-life Juanito. He'll proudly show you around his groves and offer you his tangy fruits. ‘Juanito is a true character who'll give you insights into local farming methods and let you taste his freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade orange cake,' Sonia adds.

The guide was primarily a German speaker. The English received bare bones description. It was plain from some of the words i understood that the germans were receiving much more comprehensive information

Excellent

Weather was an issue in the mountains but you can do nothing about that. The reservoir was perhaps a bit too much (in time) however the rest was excellent.

Great

The tour itself was excellent. Especially El Torcal, Juanitas orange farm. Although Antequerra was very beautiful not enough time given to explore this beautiful city. 50 minutes only. The meal included took 90 minutes. This time would have been better used for us to explore the area. Meal not needed. On our own walking time we could have stopped for a snack and refreshments. Tour guide and driver first class.

We drove a lot in the coach which would have been a bad experience if the mountains of inland Spain weren't so breathtakingly beautiful. It made the long periods on the coach worthwhile. We stopped at a fairly non descript place at the top and whilst the viewing platform was great, the centre had a old tired look and we watched a rather meaningless film that was obviously made 20-30 years ago. Maybe a person with more up to date slides who was enthusiastic about the mountains might be great.

Great

Overall I had a lovely day visiting the various places but the lunch, quite honestly, was awful! The paella literally had everything in it you can imagine including hidden shells which almost broke a tooth. The baked cod was anything but baked and the toilets were filthy.

The whole day was well planned and very enjoyable. Our only disappointment was the cold weather at El Torcal which was totally beyond your control! We had recommended the trip to our friends and eight of them joined us on the coach. We all had a great time. Thank you

Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects. Would have been helpful to have been advised to bring warm clothing for El Torcal part of tour as it was extremely cold and we were in summer clothing.

Great

Excellent value for money and very enjoyable. However would have appreciated being told to wear suitable footwear AND clothing for El Torcal as when we went it was very cold, misty, and blowing a gale and around 3 or 4 degrees, obviously because its mountainous. You MUST tell people to bring suitable attire to suit all weather! I had no knowledge of where exactly El Torcal was and had suitable attire back in the hotel! I'm sure most times weather is fine, but a warning would be useful!

Great

Really enjoyed the whole day, guide was very knowledgeable. Trip would benefit from more guidance at Antequera, as we managed to walk to Roman ruins but it was quite a trek if you're not fit. Perhaps a short activity/visit before lunch? Very impressed with the vegan option at lunch. Well worth the cost and would recommend.

Excellent

An excellent excursion to a very interesting area of inland Andalucia. We appreciated being dropped off at the locations & being given time to explore by ourselves rather than being herded around the sights in a large group. Very pleasant rustic 3 course lunch which included wine, soft drinks & water. Our guide, Anaïs, was lovely. She worked hard giving clear instructions and useful & interesting information throughout the day in 3 languages. Great value, full day out.

Great

If picked up first, as I was, you’ll be on the coach for 2.5 hrs collecting everyone else. We then were let off first to use the toilet and were at the back of a very long queue. The lakes stop could have been missed completely to give a bit longer at the other stops. 30 Mins stop is pointless for a coach of older people who all need the toilet and so spend 30 mins queuing for one loo. Needed longer in Antequera and longer at the orange farm, only 15 mins longer at each.

Our guide was professional, knowledgeable and friendly and did an amazing job all day. There was so much packed into the day and it gave a really great overview of Andalusia aside from the beach resorts which most tourists know it for.

Good variation in locations, authentic Spanish experience. Good tour guide..unfortunately because of the differing nationalities it meant that the guide had a busy talking day which can be intrusive on the enjoyment experience.

The pick up arrangements were very poor. Unfortunately the TUI rep did not call at our hotel and we were NOT given a local telephone number for rep. In order to clarify where the central bus stop was ( there were 2, one each side of the road, about 200 meters apart with no direct sight line between them) we had to phone the UK help line several times before we were advised to wait at the bus stop outside our hotel. Unfortunately it was the other bus stop we should have been waiting at!

An excellent insight into the ‘real’ Andalusia. There was so much included and the guide was very knowledgeable Would thoroughly recommend this tour as long as you are OK with winding roads!

Heel leuke en interessante uitstap. Veel informatie gekregen van een heel goede gids (Sonia). Alleen spijtig dat we niet meer tijd hadden op de stopplaatsen.
