What to expect
Geghard, Garni and Sevanank: you will visit those three historical places. Geghard and Sevanank Monasteries are unique for their architecture and historical meaning and Garni Temple is a typical ancient Roman architecture style temple, built in the 1st century. You will also visit lake Sevan and relax with its views and fresh surroundings.The tour starts at 9:00am. The first location is Geghard Monastery Complex which is unique because of its meaning and value. It is carved in the mountain and dates back between the 4th and 13th centuries. This Monastery Complex is very well preserved and it is an amazing example Armenian architecture and decorative art of the middle ages. This place is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites.The second destination is the temple of Garni. It dates back to the 1st century and the architecture is ancient Roman style. This temple was used by sun worshipers. Near the temple you will explore ancient baths with 5 rooms and a mosaic floor with paintings of ancient Greek Mythology. Near that place you will also explore natural monuments. The Symphony of Stones, which was created by lava flows. Not far from Garni village you will learn how local people make traditional Lavash, a thin flatbread which is in the list of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. You will have a chance to taste it with homemade cheese. Lunch will be at one of the restaurants which serve delicious dishes of genuine Armenian cuisine.
