What to expect
Experience independently three significant villages in Apulia on a day tour departing from Lecce. Travel in a comfortable minivan with air conditioning and listen to a professional driver who will give you information about the history of the towns.
The first stop of the tour is Ostuni, a picturesque town known as the "White City". Ostuni boasts a wonderful medieval village, with whitewashed houses that recall an oriental landscape. You will have free time to visit the old town, called "la terra" ("the land"), characterized by alleys, sloping stairs, courtyards, small squares, and craft shops.
Later you will reach Alberobello, crossing some charming villages located on top of the hills, among ancient olive trees and trulli. Explore its characteristic historic center, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover the trulli – one of the most extraordinary examples of Italian folk architecture. Particularly striking are the two districts: "Rione Monti" with its handicraft shops and "Aia Piccola", where the most ancient trulli and little museums are situated.
Your last stop is Polignano a Mare, where you can see the historic center and Roman remains like Via Traiana bridge, still viable. Entering the historic center, through a maze of streets and squares animated by local shops and restaurants, you'll find yourself on three terraces overlooking the sea, from where you will enjoy a breathtaking view.
