What to expect
Discover Prosecco and the Karst region on this full-day tour plus learn its history through its top sites: Štanjel, the castle complex, defense walls, Church of St. Daniel, surrounding village and the Ferrari Garden.
Starting from meeting your local guide at your accommodation in Trieste, you'll travel to the small town of Prosecco in Friuli Venezia Giulia, near the city of Trieste and the Slovenian border. Explore the Glera grape by seeing where it's grown, listening to how it's transformed into Prosecco sparkling wine and by tasting.
Next, you'll be driven to Štanjel which sits at the top of a scenic hill. Admire architectural points such as the Ferrari Garden whilst learning how the town gets its name from the patron Saint Daniel and is influenced by the architect and mayor at the time, Maks Fabiani. Throughout the tour, you'll get the opportunity to try the local Karst region delights, including dry-cured ham, cheese and local wine.
