What to expect
Take a whole day with your family to come and visit La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg, a must see when in Normandy! In a full day of sightseeing, you will discover the emotion of these depths trough the various attractions proposed.
As soon as you arrive in the museum's entrance hall, take the time to discover an exhibition of machines, some real, others reconstructed, that have explored the ocean floor and made discoveries, including the wreck of the Titanic.
Continue with the Titanic exhibition dedicated to the majestic streamliner and the history of European immigration. Until spring 2025, discover some artifacts found in the wreck of the Titanic.
You will also be able to listen to the Captain of Le Redoutable telling you about his life on board the largest submarine . Thanks to an audio guided tour, learn all about the first French nuclear submarine built in Cherbourg and launched by G. de Gaulle in 1967.
Then, gaze in awe at the Europe’s deepest and cylindrical aquarium, 11-metre-deep, which displays several types of Polynesian fish.
