Do this because

You'll get to see the cascading terraces of gleaming white calcite in Pamukkale for yourself
There's free time at the UNESCO-listed ruins of Hieropolis, including its Greek theatre
You can soak in the warm waters of Cleopatra's pool, a living relic of an ancient spa resort
You'll steer clear of the crowds while discovering two of Turkey's most treasured historical sites
With a local guide who really knows their stuff, you'll get the inside scoop on Turkey's culture

What to expect

This winter tour takes you to Pamukkale, which means 'cotton castle' in Turkish – and you'll soon see why as you set eyes upon this magical landscape. You'll also visit the adjacent ancient city of Hierapolis. Both are UNESCO-listed, so it's a two-in-one deal on Turkey's historical gems. And, like all of our tours, we use expert local guides who know the area inside out. Muzaffer, one of the guides, says, ‘I've got a lot of interesting things to tell on this tour that you won't hear anywhere else.'A sight to behold, Pamukkale is a series of mountainside terraces where natural springs have solidified into snowy-white stalactites and cliffs. The effect is a winter-like wonderland of petrified tiers and pools. People have bathed here for thousands of years, including Roman emperors. Follow in their footsteps and bathe in one of the thermal pools or simply stand at the top of Pamukkale and drink in the magnificent views. Then it's on to the ruins of ancient Hierapolis – a theatre, necropolis, temples, baths and much more. After lunch, you'll have free time to head to the archaeological museum or take a dip in Cleopatra's Bath, where you'll swim among ancient columns. And, if you're peckish on the way back, you'll be treated to dinner at a local forest restaurant.

More information on the route to pamukalle, as went past a lot of areas. Didn't need all the food stops. Only lunch was necessary, definitely didn't need 5 stops. Could have had longer at pamukalle. Without dinner stop everyone would be back by 1930, where all hotels have food until 2100.

Great

journey was extended by too many stops. too little time at pamukkale, considering we had spent nearly 15 hrs on excursion we were only given around 3 hrs to look around. Rest of the time was spent on the road or wasted stopping. ideally should have had 5 hrs, there were things I didn't get to see, bit disappointed.

Great

We had breakfast in our hotel as 0630 start as it was advertised as lunch & dinner included, breakfast was then included which was wasteful for us already having eaten we would have preferred to get going as we spent a good hour collecting other people and changing buses before we even left the Antalya area. Breakfast was at 8 then lunch at 11:15 ish We didn’t see all the ruins as not enough time, not to many people, guide very interesting and helpful
