What to expect
Immortalised in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Verona holds a special place in lovers' hearts. You'll get to fall in love with the city on this day trip from Lake Garda, seeing all its main sights as you wander around the history-steeped streets of its old town.Your guide will show you around, pointing out highlights such as the Roman Porta Borsari and the Roman arena – used every summer for an opera festival – and Juliet's Balcony. There are also some truly historic bridges over the River Adige as well as a world-class collection of medieval churches and basilicas.You'll also see the exterior of the Scaliger Tombs – five Gothic mausoleums for the Scaliger family, nobles who once ruled over Verona. The pick up point would have been better closer to my hotel especially as the bus went past my hotel after pick up. The tour guide was great, very informative, and there was plenty of time to browse on your own after the tour, it was just the right amount of time to look round the beautiful city

Although the guide around Verona was very knowlegeable, the headset arrangement made it difficult to hear and understand him. The TUI attendant was very helpful. I found Verona very beautiful, but was too much to takein in a few hours.

Very friendly and informative guide on the bus, we opted out of the guided tour of Verona so we could explore the Arena and Verona at our leasure. There was a bit of time wasted waiting for maps and the Verona guide when we got there so looking at the queue to get in the Arena we opted out of the guided tour so as to make the most of our time there.

Guided Tour should be on arrival at Verona. That would give you the opportunity to explore in more detail. We were hesitant to visit the Amphitheater in case we missed guided tour. After tour the queue was so long we were concerned we may miss pick up.

We really enjoyed the professional guided tour of Verona with Leonardo. All the information was very interesting. We had small ear pieces so we hear clearly. It was good to be told about a city from someone who was born there and obviously loved the city.

Our coach trip with Francesco was fantastic. He kept the journey fun and with lots of fun facts and interesting ones! It was nice to learn about towns we past, the culture, language and some fantastic information which helped us when we visited Verona I would highly recommend this trip, hopefully you get Francesco as he was absolutely fantastic! 100% take this trip! You won't be disappointed!

Francesco was such an engaging and funny guide for the day! He gave us an excellent overview of Verona as we travelled towards it. Once there, our walking tour was conducted by a local guide who was outstanding. You could tell he was really passionate about the city and knowledgeable about its history. He gave us a really detailed and well thought out tour of the city. Would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed this trip. Verona is such a relaxed city and we found the whole coach excursion ran well. The star of the show was definitely our guide, Francesco! He gave us lots of information about the city in a fun and engaging way. We laughed a lot but we learned a good amount too. The amphitheatre was the dominant feature of the tour but the other parts of the town Francesco showed us were fascinating too. Loved it!

We were picked up on time at our hotel , we had a friendly bus driver and our guide was informative and fun ?? too , told us lots of tips about Verona and how to keep safe ?? Francisco took us to meet a tour guide who gave us an audio guide tour (Leanardo) who was brilliant ?? After the tour we had free time to explore the city and were given clear instructions where and when to meet up ??

It was a long day but expected from reading the previous reviews. It was a gorgeous warm day and we had both a guided tour and free time, it was great to explore. When you book you need to bear in mind what part of the lake you are getting picked up from as that will determine how long your day is. Some people had a 20-30 min journey others came on feeder buses from 2-3 hours away. Either way, it was worth it

Staff friendly and helpful. Our tour rep gave valuable advise such as where to eat and not pay a tax, also good clear information using the map. He made sure we knew where to go for pick up and the time. The walking guide used her personal knowledge as well as the tour information. The day seemed long but this could have been down to the immense heat on that day.

Positives: - The guide told us where we could find him during free time and left us with his mobile number too. - Verona is beautiful with so much to see and do. Much cheaper than Venice too - covered gelato (the best kind!) only €2 for two scoops. Not so good: - TUI communication about the experience was rubbish, we had to figure out for ourselves where we would be picked up etc. - The guide asked for a tip at the end of the experience which came across poorly.

The pickup and transport was very efficient. A good amount of time in Verona to ourselves to explore. The one hour guided tour was very good, the guide was friendly, clear and informative. The heat in August is a significant factor and we had to pace ourselves when exploring the city ourselves. I would like to commend the coach driver and coach guide who dealt with a serious medical emergency of a fellow passenger really well. Perhaps advise guests to pre book arena tickets to avoid queues.

Bus pick up was on time. The rep going was really good and funny. Pointed out things for us to go and look at. Would have preferred the walking tour with head sets at the beginning of the day when we arrived rather than afternoon. We didn’t end up going to that as we were doing our own thing by then.

The day trip was brilliant. Our tour guide around the city was very friendly and informative. She did a good job of keeping us hydrated and in the shade whilst we were walking. Brilliant information was provided about the history and architecture of the city whilst we were on the walking tour. I think it would be better if the price included a ticket to the arena.

Really good day out. The guide Gabriella was really helpful and knowledgeable and gave a great commentary on the coach trip towards Verona with the history of the city and what to expect. The audio guided tour was really interesting and it was helpful having the headsets so you could hear what was being said even if you became slightly separated from the group. Nice balance of guided tour and free time to wander and see the sights independently. Would recommend

Nice trip possibly one hour too long. Guide satisfactory but disappointing that after using the middle door of the coach on the way there he said it couldn’t be used on the drop off for “safety reasons”. He then said tips would be appreciated which came across poorly. The next trip we did—middle door was opened on every drop off and no mention of a trip. Ironically she was an excellent guide

Wonderfull day out. The guide and driver were both lovely, and the person who did the 1 hour guided tour was funny and knowledgeable! The handing out of the little receivers and earphones for the guided tour was a little chaotic but in a funny rather than annoying way. It was an overall brilliant tour and I would definitely do it again!

Picked up ok - taxi to feeder coach. On coach no more than 10 minutes before stopping for comfort break with driver selling drinks - short journey so unnecessary. Disjointed when we arrived in Verona - 40 min wait for walking guide - poor experience with headphones. Verona nice enough. On return - dropped in car park. No return taxi arrived and none would take responsibility for this.

Excellent guide and driver. Everything went smoothly from pickup to drop off. Francesco, out guide for the day did an excellent job. He even arranged a comfort break before Verona, so we arrived refreshed from a nice espresso and croissant. Alberto, the city guide was very good, his English excellent. The audio equipment was a good idea in a busy city, but sometimes it was difficult to catch what was said.

Picked up on time by a friendly guide, felt safe and secure. Local Guilde was very knowledgeable, but I couldn't hear what he was saying with the ear pieces, I had to get very close to him. The one thing we hate is when you are finished on a day tour is when they ask you for a collection for the driver. Why? We pay a lot for trips and if they want more money then Tui should pay them more.

Our on bus guide, Orlando was great and very good at checking we knew where and when to meet. Our city guide - I never heard his name was ok but a bit quiet speaking, and when we passed another tour group the interference meant we couldn’t hear what he said. In all it was a good tour ending at ‘Juliet’s’ balcony, where the guide just left us. Afterwards we had about 3 hours free time, which we spent going into the arena (€12 each) and exploring the shops.

Gained a lot of knowledge from guide well worth doing the 1 hour guided tour. well worth the visit even though it was very hot. For two ladies on our own it was nice to have the back up of the Tui experience. Also the guide on the bus was also very good giving us information as we drove to Verona.

Spent too long picking up at other ports. Needed longer in ports especially Sirmione. Crew were helpful and efficient. Tour guide very informative but could have started tour on arrival in sirmione not at lunchtime as made getting a seat for lunch very difficult.

Guide was knowledgeable and informative. A map was provided. The town is quite compact so easy to navigate. Enjoyed the Arena but beware the steps are steep. Need to be happy with heights to climb to the top. Unfortunately The coach provided for transport was well used and quite uncomfortable to sit in for the journey.

We enjoyed the city tour very much, could of done with a little more free time, which we lost through the no of pick up's and the length of the journey to Verona. We wasn't happy about the coach changing our pick up point from the hotel to the bus stop at the top of a very large hill (1 in 2 - Coronary Hill) not good for the elderly members of our group.

Had a great day, bus was on time, tui rep very helpful , Francesco our guide was very helpful and amusing! The walking tour was very informative and interesting, and we would have wandered round Verona aimlessly had it not been for both the guides. Even got a discount in a particular cafe. There was plenty of time to look around on your own. There was nothing we didn’t like. Full marks! Sorry we can’t remember the name of the walking tour guide but he was very good and amusing too.

Verona was lovely and away from the main Arena, much quieter. Beautiful churches and streets. Guided tour was a bit wordy and concentrated too much on the whole Romeo/Juliet thing. Maybe another tour more about the history/buildings would be a nice addition. Also arena was being set up for an event so very little point visiting it as could not get a feel for it, covered by stage, lights and seats. Not worth the £10Euros, probably would be if in normal state. Trip duration longer than stated.

Our tour guide, Thomas, ensured everyone knew what we were about to see, what we were to experience , safety and practical suggestions and where to meet at the end of the day. The guide we met in Verona was knowledgeable, and easily understood within a group of around twenty by the use of headphones. Some lovely buildings to see but get away from the crowds and wander the back streets, enjoy the peace and small cafes/ restaurants.

The guide on the coach was very good, funny and informative. The guide in Verona was excellent. She was Verona born and bred and was very knowledgable. We got to see all the main sites and some things that I would not of noticed on my own. There was then plenty of time to wonder around. I’m think it is quite expensive compared to the price of a bus into Verona and for just over an hours tour but it did make it easy.

We felt the length of time there and the balance between the guided tour and time spent independently was perfect. The tour guide was excellent and we felt it was really informative, we learnt a lot. The only downside was that our hotel was unable to offer a takeaway option for breakfast (and breakfast didn’t start until 8) so we missed out on getting any breakfast despite having paid for it in our package. Overall it was worth missing breakfast for though.

A map provided by you would of beeen useful, something easily used and too follow to the best places to seee/visit. Our tour guide had too strong an accent which made it difficult to hear everything she said. Otherwise we enjoyed our day

The city was great and there was no issue with the guide very clever person spoke fluent English and German, that was part of the problem mixed group, some misunderstanding of the timings and we were an hour late back which interfered with our evening plans. We arrived in the city at 10 and the guided tour was at 13:00 by which time we had walked most of the city and seen most of what was highlighted and did not give a great deal of time to visit those places covered on the tour not seen before.

A few questionable sexist comments from the guide were concerning, suggesting if anyone was lonely to come back to the bus 5 minutes early and he and the driver would ‘take care’ of us. It was just crass and Thomas let himself down as he was otherwise excellent.

Really enjoyed our day in Verona. The bus pickup etc was seamless and Thomas (Danish Tour guide) was very charismatic and a great help throughout. I was grateful he spotted my partners mosquito bites and recommended going to a pharmacy! The guided tour was very interesting and it was great to have a local tour guide. The arena was a very good visit too and we enjoyed the cafes. All in all a very good review.

This is a review of two halves, the guide that was on the coach could not have been less engaging if he tried, the vast majority of us fell asleep during his monotone rambling about how there is more to Verona than Romeo & Julia, yes, he called her Julia. The Verona guide on the other hand was utterly superb, you could see his passion for this beautiful city and even a torrential downpour could not dampen his enthusiasm and energy. All in all a great excursion, depending on the coach guide

Tour guide was really knowledgeable and provided great hints, tips and insights. Whistle stop tour, 60 mins or so, but then a couple of hours to yourself.

Karen the tour rep on the bus was brilliant, very knowledgeable about the history of Verona, gave very clear instructions on pick up places and times and how the day was planned out. Leonardo took as around Verona itself also very nice, funny guy with great knowledge of his home town. Verona is a beautiful, clean, amazing town. The buildings and architecture are amazing. Check out Benetton basement. Go straight to arena for visit, check out opera props and go to Juliet’s house. Loved it.
