Get up close to Casa Battlo and La Pedrera, walk along Passeig de Gracia and enjoy a wow factor finale – a visit inside the Sagrada Familia. Marta, one of our local guides, says, ‘Gaudì is totally unique to Barcelona, it’s a vibrant fusion of the natural and human world. It’s no surprise his buildings are UNESCO-listed.’Take in the relaxed vibe of Passeig de Gracia, where your guide will bring Barcelona’s architectural history to life. First up is Casa Battlò with its wavy windows, fantastical colours and scaled roof. As you stroll along to reach Casa Pedrera – also known as Casa Mila – your guide will point out more Modernist buildings created by other architects and Gaudì rivals. ‘Gaudì’s trencadis technique is what defines his work – admire this type of mosaic using broken tiles, stones, marble and glass’, says Marta. After a short metro ride, you’ll arrive at the final stop, the Sagrada Familia. Taking in Gaudì’s unfinished masterpiece is an unbeatable feeling and inside takes the experience to a whole new level. After a short explanation from your guide, step inside yourselves and discover beautiful stained glass windows, detailed sculptures, columns, the mysterious cryptogram. Local guide Marta adds, ‘You’ll be lost for words visiting Gaudì’s tomb – it’s a reflective place where architect and his works are united’.
