What to expect

This summer tour takes you to Pamukkale, which means ‘cotton castle' in Turkish – and you'll see why as soon as you set eyes upon its magical landscape. Heading deep into the Anatolian countryside, you'll also visit Hierapolis, Lake Salda, as well as have the chance to see Cleopatra's Pool. Muzaffer, one of our expert guides, says, ‘Legend has it that Cleopatra's pool was the secret to her beauty. I don't know if that's true, but it's an inspiring place for a dip. Collapsed columns and marble remnants dating back to Cleopatra's time are submerged in the thermal waters. They fell here during the 7th century earthquake.'Leaving Antalya early in the morning, you'll arrive at Lake Salda after a few hours' scenic drive. It's been compared to the Maldives for its long white beaches and multi-toned blue waters. You'll have free time to take some photos of this otherworldly spot. We'll head to Pamukkale for lunch. Afterwards, catch a peek of the bright white calcite terraces – they look like icy stalactites dripping from pools of sky-blue water. At the top of these travertines is Hierapolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the Byzantine Gate and marvel at the ruins as you stroll towards the vast bowl-shaped theatre. It's epic. Then, there's the option to relax with a dip in the warm water of Cleopatra's Ancient Pool, where you swim among ancient columns. Dinner in a forest restaurant on the way back is included. What's more, for every sale of this experience, there's a donation to CYDD, a charity that helps in the education of underprivileged children in Turkey.

Great

Lake Salda is worth the visit, it's lovely. Pammukale is really special and definitely worth seein. We went in Oct when it was still hot (29°C) and not as crowded as we hear it gets in summer. Cleopatra's pool is so welcomed after all the travelling and walking in heat. The amphitheatre is quite something, if you can overcome the 10-minute steep walk (but so worth it). The (all included) breakfast was ok, lunch was delicious and dinner was very good. 13h in total for us, but we'll worth it.

Great

A great excursion overall. The sights of Hierapolis and Pamukkale were absolutely stunning despite the extreme heat. The guide was informative and friendly but also didn’t speak too much and allowed us to sleep on the coach. Maybe more time could be arranged at Lake Salda, plus the toilet facilities were a little bit to be desired. However, we did have lots of time to explore Pamukkale and Hierapolis (3 hours) which was fantastic.

Great

The trip stated that entrance fees were included. I thought this was all entrance fees. We had to pay to go into cleopatras pool. The trip was expensive as it was this should have been included in price, or stated if it wasn’t.

Great

It was a great day out but the food choices could have been better, not everyone can eat or like's a traditional Turkish breakfast and evening meal, there should have been more choices for breakfast and the evening meal. The lunch time meal was good as there was something for everyone wish the other two was like that. The tour guide guy was great very knowledgeable and very happy to please.

Excellent

Good amount of stops to break up the journey. Stopped at nice toilets and bkfast/lunch/dinner was very tasty. Guide was friendly and informative about the journey, the area and activities. But day trip was advertised as full day 8 hours but in total lasted 15 hrs door to door so was a lot longer than expected (picked up at 6am and dropped off at 9.30pm) Overall though I would highly recommend to see the 'real Turkey'. I would do it again. Thanks to Mehmet for being a wonderful guide.

Pamukkale is an amazing natural phenomenon and great to see, however, it is very busy and once you have seen it there is little do to. Cleopatra's pool is dirty and even our guide said he wouldn't personally swim in it. Hierapolis is interesting but it was extremely hot and there is no shade at all. The journey from Side area is just too long - left hotel at 5a.m and got back 10p.m. - I thought the coach journey would never end. Food and guide great but too far to make it truly worth it.

Great

Amazing trip, beautiful experience would highly recommend. When booking the excursion the confirmation says the trip is 8 hours when in fact it was 16 hours. This is a massive difference and would have made us think differently about what to bring ect with us and whether we wanted to spend 10 hours travelling.

Great

Our tour guide Ahmed was amazing very interesting and educational. Restaurant chosen for dinner okay, although I was very unwell after eating dinner, the meal wasn't appealing. The places we went were amazing and enjoyable. A big negative was on the tour it stated a full day 8 hours, in fact it was 15 hours, it took 4 hours to reach destination although we had a few mins tolet breaks and 4 hours back, my husband suffers quite bad with his legs and sitting on a coach for long periods wasn't good

Excellent

I really enjoyed the tour, it's a long journey but worth the trip. I particularly enjoyed having breakfast, lunch and dinner catered for. The drivers were very good and I felt perfectly safe. The mini bus was comfortable. Our guide Mehmet was fantastic with a good sense of humour and excellent English. I really enjoyed his talks about Turkey's history and found him to be very knowledgeable.

Excellent

Well, I'm satisfied with everything after all. Our tour guide was very professional, prepared and friendly, also the drivers were friendly. A very nice surprise was to me, that there is 3 meals included in this long journey. Pamukkale and Hieropolis are in a huge territory, we had a long time enough to enjoy this sight, but you can spend easily a full day there. The only one thing I didn't really like is the very long bus journey time, specially the way back to hotels. But still, I'm happy with this excursion, it was a lifetime experience.

Excellent

We were a bit worried about this one given the long travel time but our worries were for nothing. While it was a long day and time spent travelling there were many breaks throughout the journey to help. The food was amazing, best food I’ve had on an excursion. Great guide too, very knowledgable.
