What to expect
All aboard Sorrento's foodie train for three hours of the region's best countryside views and famous flavours. The whimsically retro blue and white trolley train trundles out from hilltop Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi to kick off your tasting tour.The Desert Monastery is first up. It dates back to 1769 and gives it's resident Benedictine nuns, and you, some heavenly views of the Gulfs of Salerno and Naples, as well as Mount Vesuvius. Your next stop is Orto Ghezi to sample the spoils of a Mediterranean kitchen garden. You'll try honey and ‘limoncelle' apple jam here, before heading on to a stately home-come-organic farm, Palazzo Raja.All sorts of delicacies are in store at this sprawling estate. Tour the lemon groves, then get stuck into a hands-on workshop to turn the fresh lemons into limoncello – and sip the zesty end result. You'll be treated to a wine-tasting, as well as fresh olive oil, tomatoes, olives and bread – all made on the estate. Plus, there's a mozzarella-making demo where you'll taste the freshly-made cheese.

The train driver was a happy chappy & kept the customers entertained. It was a good way to see some of Italy & sample some local cuisine. The only grumble was that the same tour was advertised under 2 different descriptions - I booked to do a mountain & sample some local cuisine tour & others on it though they were visiting a local lemon grove to see the making of lemoncella & sample it.

Train driver is always fantastico which is why I hesitate to write a negative review but feel TUI should know our true experience. Loved the train ride (5th year we have done it and always LOVED it previously). We were expecting to be picked up by the train at the hotel as normal. Minibus arrived with a horrible driver who didn’t bother to understand my confusion but instead ridiculed me loudly to the rest of the bus. Very nasty and made me very upset and embarrassed. Ruined the experience

A great way of seeing parts of Italy you would not otherwise see . Fab guide who was as mad as a box of frogs !! Enjoyed the lemoncella factory the best , and treated myself to the coffee lemoncella. A must do tour , choo chooo!

A lovely morning spent on the little train, travelling around the villages above the bay of Sorrento. Visits to a limoncello maker and a residence with a beautiful little church to taste olive oil and homemade marmalade. The driver was very entertaining and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

What a fabulous experience, being driven on a land train, waving to people as we went past, the driver saying "Andiamo! Choo choo!". Fabulous sights, wonderful tastings, absolutely fantastic limoncello tasting. Would definitely recommend

Tui staff were excellent especially Saul. Hotel was in need of some attention. Food was good but was not as good or varied as during our last visit 9 years ago. Room was poor with dreadful outlook but the bathroom was lovely. The Amalfi excursion would have been wonderful but there was just too much to fit in in one day so too rushed. Loved the noddy train. Lots of things to do in the hotel. Generally a good experience

It was a bit difficult to hear and understand what the guide was saying when he driving in his cab so any information he was giving no one knew what it was about and if you was at the back of the que he did not wait till we was all together to tell us information, the first drop it was a shock for some with the amount of stairs which no information was given on site so some of the visitors were a bit unhappy, so that said our selves did enjoy apart from the things mentioned

Amazing trip loads of lovely places to see off the beaten track guide was funny and knowledgeable Only downside was comfort of train as we were crammed like sardines on each bench 4 to each bench and when one of those four is a very large man the rest of us had an uncomfortable and claustrophobic experience Please consider limiting to 3 per bench to make the experience better

Enjoyed the route of this trip especially the monastery and the location of the ‘tasting’ bit of the trip. Found the comfort of the train could be improved. Due to the number of steps involved however I don’t think it’s such a great trip for anyone with mobility problems but I can’t recall seeing anything about this prior to booking.

A great morning sightseeing around the villages of Sorrento. Fantastic stop offs to take in the views. Excellent guide who made the journey fun along the way. Visited a monastery, limoncello distillery and local produce tasting; honey, mozzarella and olive oils. Well worth it!

Loved the trip the driver/guide was fantastic and so funny,,,,,only downer was the weather, it was torrential rain, and were unable to see any views, had to have the plastic windows down, but obviously this isn’t TUI’s fault,,,I had pre booked the trip before I arrived in Sorrento, so no one could have predicted the horrendous weather,,,will have another go when I come back, but all in all it was fun and as a solo traveller I got to meet some lovely people ?? Would highly recommend this trip.

Travelling on the golfi train, is always entertaining. The driver is brilliant at telling us what we're going to see and taste. We knew that I couldn't climb up on to the roof, but I was a little disappointed not to be able too walk all the way to the mozzarella tasting shop. They had provided some of these stock but not everything.

Great trip which lets you see lots of places you probably wouldn’t go yourself. Driver was a character who had us all laughing. Some snacks and drinks at 2 of the 3 stops which were lovely. Train felt a bit like a roller coaster on the downhill bends but it was all part of the fun.

What a super trip , our driver clearly loves his job and his fun approach was infectious. We got to see some lovely scenery and views of the coastline from the hillside , along with a chance to sample local foods and a visit to a small limoncello factory was the icing on the cake !

This trip not suitable for people like myself with hip/knee replacements who cannot manage lots steps/stairs. I was unable to climb stairs to top of Monestary & really struggled to climb steps to where refreshments/toilets were with views to die for. There were no handrails at all. Still enjoyed trip but got stressed.

The overall trip was good, the views from the places we stopped at were amazing. The only thing that let the trip down was the guides “bad English” it was very hard to understand him when he was telling all about the tour. He was very funny and had lots energy, it was only his “bad English” that let the tour down. You might also add to your tour information about the 85 steps upto the first Stops viewing point. The were 2 people on our trip that couldn’t make it up there, so the missed out!

Fabulous tour with a fun guide. The panoramic view from the monastery bell tower was gorgeous. Stopped for mozzarella and flavoured olive oil tasting. (No pressure to buy if you didn't want to) Toilet available and cold water to buy. Some people booked restaurant for later in their stay to experience the sunset with restaurant offering transport. Next stop, Lemoncello tasting/demonstration. Lovely breeze as we travelled along sounding the horn to alert other road users. Recommend.

Great morning. Our driver was fun, although difficult to understand at times. There were a lot of steps involved to get to the first viewpoint and the restaurant, but the views were worth it! I had put 2 & 2 together and made 5, so had imagined going to a mozzarella cheese farm as well as the limoncello factory (which was just a shop with a bar in reality), so was slightly disappointed when we simply went to a restaurant where we tried some food that was for sale. Bought some lemon oil - yum!!

A terrific trip which was fun and varied. Spectacular views from a lovely land train carriage. Plenty of room as not full. The driver was lively and funny and even drove us home in his car ! You just need to be aware that there is a fair bit of steps climbing involved if you want to maximise the experience.

This was our 3rd time at Nastro Azzurro and considering it had been shut for 2 years due to the pandemic it felt like nothing had happened, it was truly excellent and what made it better was that most of the staff were the same. A new addition to the team was Saal who led all the activities around the pool along with all the exercise and fitness classes, he was truly fantastic. TUI have a real gem in him and this needs to be looked after! His interaction with everyone was outstanding!

The train ride itself was scenic going through villages above Sorrento and seeing the wonderful views. The guide was excellent as was the mozzarella and limoncello tasting.

Beautiful views, happy knowledgeable driver. A “different “experience to usual trips. Good tasting sessions and not pushing sales hard. The only problem was there are many steps at each stop. 85 at the first , so not suitable for people that have mobility issues.

We really enjoyed the train ride and visits to the tastings. Sometimes we found the guide a little difficult to understand.but appreciated his commentary and humour. A little map to show the route would be useful so we could look into the villages further should we wish to revisit by bus.

This was a most enjoyable activity. A mini bus collected us from our hotel without problem and, along with guests from some other hotels, we were taken to Sant' Agata to meet the little train. The train tour was lovely and the driver was so amusing. We visited three sites and were able to sample some local produce and limoncello. Only problem for me was that the view of the Due Golfi (Bay of Naples and Salerno) involved a climb of a number of steps, which I couldn't do. A great excursion.

Great guide, very energetic, happy, funny and knowledgeable. The trip was varied with nice spots to visit and great taster sessions.

Great
Good driver, very upbeat. Tasting portions at Lemoncello factory very very small, approx 10mm in small plastic cup. I think the factory should receive money to increase portion size
