TUI Saariselka Husky Sleigh Tour

The information beforehand needs to be improved, the “musher” (driver of sleigh) needs to be in fit physical health as the task is very physically demanding, it needs to be said if it’s too warm ie -5 that the dogs do not work hard and that it will be tough. We went and had an extra dog on our sleigh but the guide Samuel was great and said it was the hardest day to do it as the dogs were too hot! None of this is mentioned when booking. Meeting the pups was through a fence. More food/drink needed

We absolutely loved the Husky ride but being 20-25 mins long and £664 for a "2 hour experience " wasn't good. We were told they were running behind and taken to the hut. We expected a talk or to learn something after the ride but were left to wait. Two husky puppies were brought in and that was the end of it. We only booked with Tui to make our lives easier, and paid an extra £200 compared to other providers. Terrible value for money.

The excursion is listed as a 2 hour experience, it lasted approximately half an hour. We were told we would have blankets, we were not given blankets, the children were freezing by the end of the ride.

As a family, we were really excited about this experience as it’s not like anything we have done before and probably won’t ever do again. The staff were amazing, explained everything well and we felt like we were in good hands. The dogs were lovely, worked really hard and it was great we could pet them at the end of the trip- our boys loved that! Meeting the newest puppy at the end of the trip was a bonus too. However, in terms of value for money, we paid quite a lot for what turned out to be a 45 mins sleigh trip and a cup of hot berry juice. Given that the trip was at lunch time and there’s a fair bit of waiting around as the groups are split into two, a snack of some sort would’ve been good, especially for the kids. The toilet facilities were also pretty shocking-only two compost toilets shared between at least 60 people per trip. The toilets were far too high for my 8yr old and 6yr old to get on alone and they were so full and smelled so badly we were almost sick. We probably would recommend the excursion to others, purely because for most it’s a once in a lifetime experience, but we feel that for the amount that people pay, the facilities should be better, more refreshments available and people should be made aware that the actual experience itself is only 45 mins long.
