What to expect

The Algarve is famed for its beautiful beaches, yet its countryside is also filled with little gems. On this exclusive tour, you'll head into the Monchique Mountains to visit the history-steeped towns of Silves and Monchique as well as Mt Foia. Plus, you'll taste some local treats along the way.First up is Silves, in the heart of the orange-growing country at the foot of the highlands. You'll climb up its castle to admire the views, learn about its Moorish past and enjoy a cake and orange juice in its café. We'll then continue the excursion deep into the Monchique Mountains, where we'll stop in a restaurant for lunch.Next is Mt Foia, the Algarve's highest point. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views over the countryside. You'll also drop into a shop for a liqueur tasting. Then, it's on to Monchique to explore its cobbled streets and traditional shops. Rounding off the day is Caldas de Monchique for a guided walk through a garden rich in the area's endemic trees as well as a mineral water tasting.

Great

The lack of detailed information before booking needs looking into. A blanket statement ” people with reduced mobility should not choose this” is unacceptable. You write this in EVERY EXCURSION just to cover your own backsides. Why don’t you just say if you have reduced mobility don’t bother going on holiday?? People like me need DETAILED information so we can make an informed decision. e.g total amount of walking is 2.6 miles and includes a steep cobbled incline of about 200 yards.

The tour was great unfortunately the weather was not but that had nothing to do with the tour.The guide Anna was great and I really enjoyed it inspire of the weather.

Unfortunately the weather closed in at the top of the mountain so the views were non-existant. But generally speaking it was a nice day out, even though a couple of places I'd been to on previous trips.

Didn't get to see much of Silves castle as French translation took too long before English one began. French went off to explore but English didn't get chance to go on walls as orange and cake were being served. Would have liked a little longer to explore Silves town. Lunch was very good. Shame about the weather though as no views to be seen from mountain top. Guide and driver excellent.

Pick-up time was 8:50 however bus arrived 9:30, no apology or explanation given. This clearly impacted the amount of time allowed at Silves as the visit there felt rushed. The lunch at Monchique was excellent, as was Anna our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable & informative. Some less abled bodied travelers struggled with the steep climbs involved on this trip. Perhaps it should be more strongly stressed that it is unsuitable for this category of people. Would've preferred a Brits only trip.

Overall it was a fantastic experience with some stunning views. Anna our guide was very informative and wet into depth about the history of the area lot of walking which wasn’t too bad

The Tour guide and bus driver were both very professional and friendly. The restaurant was very nice. The information provided was very interesting. Please include the bus stop number as to make ********** up point information more clear.
