Next, you will cross by ferry and reach Lipari, the largest of the island group. Created by successive volcanic activity, the unique geology of the island includes steaming fumeroles and quarries of pumice stone. Wander among whitewashed houses, and see the remains of the old Greek walls. Get panoramic views of the volcanic landscape, and soak up the laid-back vibe that has attracted fashion designers and pop stars seeking a retreat from the spotlight.Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the ribbon of 7 islands in the Aeolian group took its name from the Greek god of the winds.
