Commissioned by Enea Silvio Piccolomini (who later became Pope Pius II) to Bernardo Rossellino was part of a project to rebuild Pienza as an ideal city.Discover the origins of this place, first build as a summer residence and is unanimously considered the first example of Renaissance architecture. Enjoy the lovely location, right in the center of Pienza near the Duomo.Learn more about its architecture, a regular plan around a courtyard with a fountain in the center, in harmony with the local landscape. Reach the back porch for a scenic view of the Val d'Orcia and Mount Amiata. Explore the courtyard which is often the setting of many events and concerts, especially during the summer.
