What to expect
Enjoy a one-day adventure in Albania with a cruise from Corfu, a guided walk in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Butrint, a buffet lunch, and a 20-kilometer highlight bus tour.Depart from the Port of Corfu and follow the Albanian coast to the city port of Saranda. Enjoy a 20-kilometer guided bus tour of the southern coast and its virgin shores and islands. Pass through small villages and gaze in awe at the endless fertile plains that lead to a great lake. At the edge of the lake, you will find the ancient city of Vouthrota.The highlight of your day will be a visit to Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire the ancient theatre, the Temple of Asclepius, the gymnasium, and the Roman Baths. The Roman Baptistery with its priceless mosaic floor, the Lion Gate, and the enormous Cyclopean walls will transport you back in time from 2,500 years till the 3rd century AD.Return to Saranda for lunch, and then take a walking tour before sailing back to Corfu.

What to remember
Know in advance:
Please be aware that due to the limited passport and customs control facilities and due to the lack of personnel for passport control, there might be a delay in the control process at the port of Corfu, from 30 to 90 minutes upon arrival or departure for all the summer itineraries

You'll need a current valid passport or valid EU ID
In case there are children under 18 years old travelling with one parent, the second parent must give a declaration that allows the child to travel to Albania and back in the same day
The cruise schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions
There is a parking area in the Port of Corfu (€3.00 for 24 hours)
On-board facilities include 2 open decks with seated viewing areas, an air-conditioned main hall, TV, DVD player, a music system, a self-service bar, toilets, showers, cabins

Was war gut: -Transfer (pünktlich und angenehm) -Kontakt mit Ionian Cruises (die Leute die da arbeiten haben immer uns geholfen und unsere Fragen beantwortet) -der Man der uns geführt hat - der war richtig cool Was war nicht gut- als wir schon in Hafen waren musste ich nochmal 45 e bezahlen obwohl darüber gab es kein Info.

Het overtrof enorm mijn verwachtingen! Albanië is echt een prachtig land. De gids wist enorm veel en je zag dat ze het met volle passie deed. Butrint was enorm interessant en het was leuk om door Sarande te vertoeven. Het was wel leuker geweest om iets langer in Sarande te kunnen blijven, verder was alles fantastisch. De inbegrepen lunch was ook enorm lekker.

Like most visitors I'm sure, we would have liked more time in Butrint, which was really exceptional. However I appreciate the time constraints of the tour and the numbers of visitors might make this difficult

Butrint was really interesting but we had very little time there (approx 1hr), not enough to see museum. We were advised that the trip was 10 hours but it was over 13 hours. It took 1hr 45 mins at port before leaving and 1hour 15 mins on our return. Traffic congestion in Albania was horrible. There was so much time spent waiting/queuing rather than seeing the things we wanted to. We got back to our hotel after 9pm! Guide very knowledgeable.

Whole trip was great and well organised. Lunch was fantastic and more than we expected . Great food.Best I have had on any trip. Tour guide really great. Very friendly and gave the right amount of information. Boat really good. Only one thing not so good and Tui cannot do anything abou it is getting through security and passport control. Needs the authorities to sort it out. Absolute chaos..

I would strongly recommend to go to the Saranda and Butrint to see sites. Albania has a lot of things to offer to the tourists, even so infrastructure is still in the building process. Amazing fresh food, amazing coffee. Don't be afraid to go the restaurant and try something local.Take small bottel of water, a hat, sunglasses, SPF because you can easily get burnt and dehydrated. There is very hot. You not going to be told this, so prepare some cash on you, to pay the ticket on the boat entry €15

Lunch a little disappointing. Choice of sea bream/ fried chicken breast with one bowl of salad per table (lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber) and half a slice of bread each. No other carb provided, plus a free bottle of water. I would recommend giving some rice or chips also. Had to go elsewhere for more food as still hungry. The tour was really good and the guide on the bus was good. Instructions on where to go in the town after could be written down as she gave vague directions to places to go.

Had to make sure we had a transfer as well through the tui rep at our hotel as said it wasn't provided. This was minor compared to the trip!. Trip itself was amazing and the tour guide was so knowledgeable as well.

Der Tagestrip nach Albanien war sehr schön. Wenn man nicht nur Saranda sondern auch Butrint besuchen will sollte man relativ fit zu Fuß sein, da der Boden uneben, es bergauf und ab und über Treppen geht. Natürlich ist es alles unter gewissen Zeitdruck, ich empfand es aber nicht unangenehm. Das Buffett war lecker und ausreichend und mit toller Aussicht. Danach gab es noch 1Std Freizeit in Saranda. Es ist perfekt um möglichst viel an einem Tag zu entdecken. Dementsprechend aber nicht so entspannt.

Enjoyed the tours with knowledgeable guides. Food was great. Tour operator had different meeting place and time to TUI, confusion was sorted with a phone call/emails prior to trip. Downside, passport control taking too long, felt like staff going out of Greece were deliberately slow. I would recommend for list of things to take, ditch the towel and swimmers, as not that type of trip, and replace with insect repellent as lots of lying water and foliage (and less to carry around all day)

The tour was great, really interesting. The guide amazing. While we are told to bring water, it might be good to mention you can't buy water until lunch which a long time from leaving the boat. Also the only thing the guide should do is offer toilet stops at both places at the archaeological site. As we (women) -have to queue leaving it to one stop is not comfortable. Also while happy to buy drinks with lunch, water should be offered as included. Probably people would buy more drinks then.

Reisleiding was zeer professioneel, gaf goede uitleg.. De lunch was prima, mosselen, salade en een keuze tussen kip, vis en vegetarisch. Flesje water was ook inbegrepen. Het is geen buffet. Echter de bootreis vonden wij matig. Er gaan teveel gasten aan boord. Het is lastig om buiten een zitplaats te krijgen. Daarom twijfel ik aan de veiligheid aan boord. Let op. Er zijn heel veel trappen in het park. Niet geschikt voor mindervaliden. Badplaats met lange boulevard en veel mooie restaurants.

Not happy at not being told clearly there was an extra 15euro pp charge when on the boat. Would have preferred more time in butrint and less in saranda. The guide was excellent and clearly passionate about the site and her country. Passport control takes a while both ways, do be prepared for a wait and if unlucky enough to be travelling with the french beware they will try and push in!
