What to expect

Undoubtedly one of the most exciting and fun ways to explore the island of São Miguel, this tour takes you into the depths of nature where you will go along the stream descending several waterfalls, sliding and jumping into natural pools, making it a great way to spend the day. If you're looking for challenges, fun and adrenaline then this activity is for you.This excursion starts and finishes at the Salto do Cabrito Waterfall, an amazing place located near the city of Ribeira Grande and Caldeira Velha in São Miguel Island, a 20-minute drive from the city of Ponta Delgada. When you get there, you'll receive the equipment and a safety briefing, followed by a 30-minute walk to the canyoning site where the fun will begin.After another briefing with a few more instructions, you'll begin the descent of the canyon, passing through several waterfalls and surrounded by the exuberant nature of this volcanic area. The descent is made through several rappels (between 4 and 16 meters), and you can optionally make a jump of approximately 3 meters. For unforgettable moments of fun, there is also the option of a zip line.

Know in advance:

a moderate/good level of fitness is recommended. This tour sometimes includes: walking on unstable terrain and slippery rocks, muddy slopes and small uphill and downhill scrambles
the exact itinerary including jumps, abseils and other techniques will depend on local conditions and seasons. The terrain, landscape and flow of the stream normally change throughout the year
suitable for most ages and all levels of canyoning experience whether you're a beginner or have done canyoning before. You don't need to know how to swim, just be comfortable in the water
this tour is operated by a bilingual guide (English and Portuguese)

Remember to bring:

bathing suit (to be worn from home if possible), hair elastic band (for comfort and safety reasons, people with long hair should tie their hair back), towels and dry clothes, individual water bottle
