Here time stopped in 79AD, when the eruption of the nearby volcano Vesuvius covered the city, the buildings, the streets and its inhabitants.Discover how people lived in ancient Rome in the first century and visit the monumental buildings and houses where you can still admire the walls decorated with incredible mosaics and paintings. Know in advance:
People with disabilities and one carer are admitted for free and don't need to buy a ticket. A certificate of disability might be requested by the venue
Guests can visit any time within the opening hours: from 1 April to 31 October - from 09.00 am to 07.00 pm (last entrance at 05.30 pm) and from 1 November to 31 March 2025 - from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm (last entrance at 03:30 pm)
It is not permitted to bring bags, backpacks, suitcases or briefcases larger than 30 x 30 x 15 cm into the site. You may leave them at the bag check free of charge
Please note that children under 18 years old enter for free and don't need a ticket
