⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Amazing Experience on the Martha Brae River! We booked the Martha Brae river excursion with TUI and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. From start to finish, everything was relaxed, well organised and beautifully scenic. Our raft captain, Murphy, completely made the experience. He was brilliant — so knowledgeable about the history of the river and Jamaica, and he told the stories in such an engaging and entertaining way.

Driver was prompt and courteous. Raft master wanted to get to the finish as quickly as possible, overtaking other rafts so he could get back to the top for more customers. We were only on the raft for a maximum of 30 minutes. We saw no birds as the raft masters were shouting and making too much noise.

Mcneil was my Guide he was very informative and courteous towards my son and myself. A really relaxing raft down the river, with our guide talking us through aspects of the Jamaica, and the beautiful greenery that surrounds Martha Brae River. This rafting is calm and relaxing, when you sit on a raft which each guide has hand made out of bamboo. You pass 'put up shops' on the river, you can buy items from sellers (for cash) & don't feel pressured to buy. Remember to bring your water shoes

Transport from Negril a bit too long. Bad organisation either from TUI or from the transport company. Waisted 20 minutes outside an hotel awaiting for people who did not turn up and then were sent to another hotel again no show up!! Needs to be addressed

We were left waiting on Sunday for a trip that was cancelled but none told us. Attended today and it was a chilled row down the river. The river was still high and we were informed it was the same on Sunday so we were lied to! The raft took us down the river which took about 45 minutes to ride the 3 miles through lush vegetation. Our river guide was very knowledgeable about the trees and plants. We stopped at a local shop to purchase souvenirs.

This was a perfect trip for relaxing and just enjoying the beautiful peaceful environment. We took our older teenage children and they loved it too. The guides/rafters were fabulous. Took photos for us, allowed the kids to pose rafting, pointed out wildlife and gave lots of interesting information. It really was a perfect trip. I could have gone straight back to the start and done it again the second we’d finished. Loved by everyone on our bus back too. A definite 5/5 for us!

The driver was on time and courteous. The staff at the site were ok, Peter brown the actual guide was funny and made the experience enjoyable. What I didn’t like was 1. Road security was not great but I understand that’s outside of your control 2. The bus was a little small so perhaps one with slightly bigger seat would have been good 3. We only got offered a small drink (orange juice) and drinks to buy were a little expensive. You could throw in an extra drink (maybe a beer)

The Martha Brae river experience is amazing, so beautiful and calming the raft captain was very informative about the history of the river and pointed out a lot of plants/trees along the way so we learnt a lot. The driver was very unhelpful and barely spoke to us or any of the other passengers. On a similar TUI excursion we had a driver and a rep to assist along the way but this was only a driver, he didn’t give us a lot of info and could have done better. Overall river amazing, would recommend

Very good indeed, the captain was full of knowledge, learnt a lot of history as well as the different types of plants and wild life just a shame the captain’s only get paid $25 a day, I was impressed with they bring there own bamboo raft each day, the captain’s get 2 goes on the river and they share this with 95 other captain’s to make sure they all have a go

We booked this last minute as the tour we originally had got cancelled and, I'm so glad we did. What a wonderful experience. The raft Captains are warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and, most importantly, they love their jobs! Our captain, Captain Rick, was particularly good, engaging not only with us but also others on the river. Sadly because of the huge rainfall in the mountains the river wasn't it's usual crystal clear so we didn't swim, but we could have, had we wanted, you just have to ask.

The excursion listed seems correct, but bother the ticket and email the day before say to bring bathing gear and towels etc. Most people did this, but there was no chance to bathe in the river. We finished the raft ride and ended up in the little bar, not knowing what was going to happen.

The whole experience was superb, from being picked up on time, our drivers friendly nature and explanation of what will happen. He even took us to a local wholesale spice warehouse on our return. Our rafts and guides were always polite, knowledgeable and friendly. We felt completely safe and relaxed. Such a stunning location ??

Great experience, beautiful river with time to enjoy. Good guides and they let us swim, and both boats were together so we could enjoy as a family. It was quiet on the river and didn’t feel too busy. Was expensive for just over 2 hours as a trip, once you add tips it’s expensive for a family of 4.

Overall a really nice experience. Travelled as a couple and had a nice chap taking us around the river (JK). The views were lovely. We took our own bluetooth speaker along with us also and had a bit of a laugh as we got closer to the end of the trip. Lasts no more than an hour overall.

The rafting its self was incredible. However, no option to swim as advertised and we were really looking forward to this as we’d cancelled a different swimming excursion thinking we’d get the chance. Long wait from getting off the boat to getting on the raft but the raft was well worth the wait. Beautiful!

We enjoyed the relaxing time on the raft, but definitely overpriced for what it is. Felt we could’ve purchased cheaper in Jamaica. Driver didn’t speak to us the whole way and drove like a crazy person at times but still expected tips - Bit cheeky in my opinion. Also didn’t get a free drink as advised, were sold a bottle of rum punch that had already been opened. Weren’t offered a limestone massage either and was not able to swim as advised too. A bit disappointing.

The raft experience was amazing, but we felt unsafe and intimidated on the transport to and from the attraction. We should have been on the same bus as all the other passengers right from the start, not put on a bus on our own with a driver who barely communicated with us. To have to travel for 2 hours on 2 separate buses for a journey that should only have taken 45 mins was unacceptable. We didn’t feel safe.

Great trip if you are nature lover. The not so great part was the pick up. We waited half an hour and as we started walking back to the room thinking something has gone wrong with our booking driver turned up. I would expect a quick message or email saying they are late. The experience was great, the guide was friendly and did a good job keeping us safe and entertained. We could spend there all day. At the end you can purchase a photo for $10 which was a nice touch. Highly recommended.

Our captain was Cleve and he was great. He didn’t “row” too fast so we we had a nice slow pace to enjoy the experience. The guy at the bar before you board the boats was really nice and friendly as well. You can buy pics at the end for $10 each which was a nice memento.

Me and my boyfriend had a brilliant time bamboo rafting. It took about 1.5-2 hours in the car from our resort in Negril to Martha B river however we enjoyed the car journey with the other guests and taxi driver and the taxi was air conditioned. On arrival, we had a free welcome drink with the opportunity to buy alcoholic drinks. The views were stunning and our guide was very polite and chatty. The rafting lasts about an hour. Would highly recommend.

This trip was great, no need for a guide- driver was enough: picked up clients -drove to location- gave full clear introductions- collected & dropped off. Great experience all round the raft captain took his time down river to soak up experience and fed us information of things on and around River. The only downside was that bus driver wanted us back on bus as soon as we landed virtually no time to get a drink and visit restroom The whole experience from Montego Bay was all done in 2 hours and for the cost was at £70 each was expensive but rememberable experience

The bamboo rafting was good but 2 hours journey there and back from Riu Negril in traffic was too much in the heat! Our driver got stopped by traffic police and he gave them 20 dollars to ignore the fact his paperwork wasn’t up to date which was a bit worrying! We felt the captain of the raft could’ve given us more information aswell.

This is a very relaxing trip one or two people on the raft with a raft captain who will point out the things of interest.Downside you have to wear a life jacket which can make you very uncomfortable with the heat.Overall a great experience.

Absolutely loved this excursion although its quite expensive. You get a good hour rafting down the river and its very tranquil & relaxing. Our guide Edgar was amazing, very friendly and took pictures for us and told us about the area. The guides do try to sell you coconuts that they have hand carved, which are beautiful but it all depends on whether its your type of thing or not. We declined to buy one off Edgar but we gave him a $20USD tip, which he was extremely grateful for.

Very informative guide and a great bus driver - lots of information given on the area, the history etc. bring bug spray! As there is a lot of bugs around with it being on the water.

This trip is beautiful and relaxing. Definitely reccomended and would go back! Our guide/raft captain was amazing and really made the trip for us. Only complaint is that it says you can swim and this wasn't offered and we couldn't see anywhere were you could so wasted space taking towels etc which weren't necessary.

Hilton was a fantastic guide, giving us a few old reggae songs on the way, it was so tranquil and relaxing on the water, I'm a 66 year old amputee but the guys were so helpful making sure i got in and out safely, pity we didn't have a little longer time to spend with fellow rafters after the punt down the river.

All though we enjoyed this trip, there were some issues. The driving of the minibus was very fast and at times he was on his mobile phone, which is illegal in the UK as it has been proven to a danger to life. Our raft captain was knowledgeable and friendly and a pleasure to be in the company of. However we felt he was rushing to get down the river asap. The trip was lovely and peaceful but there was not alot to see and therefore didn't justify the price

Overall I would really recommend this trip. It was a lovely relaxing experience and it was fun to try to use the pole. It really made me appreciate how hard our guides work for their living. I think we all felt we had to buy a carving we didn't really want but just because we could see that the guides work so hard for very little money which is a shame. From a personal point of view we didn't get an opportunity to swim in the river but this was a minor issue. Overall a lovely way to spend a morning .

The river ride itself was excellent and very tranquil and a lovely day but I thought we may see a bit more than we did. The only thing I didn't like was everybody looking for handouts with tipping it was embarrassing and the guide ended up bringing pottery and all sorts trying to sell them to you.

The trip was absolutely incredible, bamboo rafting down the Martha Brae has to be one of the highlights of our honeymoon. The rafting is so peaceful and so tranquil, and with it being just two people on a raft, it was really special and personal. Our captain, O’Neill, was so friendly and it was lovely hearing him tell us about how he made the rafts etc. O’Neill also made some items that were for sale as souvenirs at the end of the tour. The rafting covers a 3 mile stretch and takes about 45 minutes. We saw a turtle and some fish in the river, it was honestly incredible!

Took about 40 mins to get there from our hotel in Runaway Bay. We were fortunate that our bamboo rafter guide was excellent, he engaged with us from the outset and made the experience good fun. On the river for a out 1.5 hours. Whole trip took about 3 hours including travel time.

Booking on line, you have no access to staff. Trying to get through to Tui by phone is hard work. Companies need to start building up staff again, Covid is supposed to be all but over now but customer service (with most companies) is almost non existent. We upgraded our flight to premium economy but there were a number of things promised that were not available. Probably the most frustrating thing is having no on site reps. It all has to be done on an 'app' and then does not always go to plan. WiFi was at best patchy in our hotel and not available away from it!

A great relaxing tour although a bit confusing when you reach the site the guide gets the tickets then leaves you with lots of other groups to be taken to the rafts. We were told by the guide from another trip to follow his group to the rafts, after that we boarded a raft and the trip was restful and interesting although you have to find a comfortable position on the cushion on the bamboo seat.

Pick up was prompt and the the introduction as delightful as always. Smooth running. Felt really comfortable and guided by Precious our guide. We checked out the pre shops before boarding the raft but make allowances for the bar where you can buy drink for yhe rafting experience, as well as cool stalls and bars along the way. Our rafting driver was called Sims and we loved his laid back vibes. He encouraged us to ask anything we wanted. He took pics of us and allowed us to do stand and hold the paddle. We learnt about wildlife, the jamaican ways, nanny of the maroon and so much more. Informative, relaxing and absolutely breathtaking whilst being REALER than real. The only improvement (and I guess I'm giving that info) is to be made aware that there are shops and stalls whilst rafting, so maybe don't spend it all at the beginning as the rafters are all really talented and deserve your tips

Mask wearing was not required on the bus, despite the bus being small and all seats taken. The bus was old there was no real air conditioning. I was told by the bus driver to close the window (open for ventilation purposes) by the request of 4 maskless Americans. The bus has been the only place in Jamaica where was wearing has not been required whilst simultaneously being the place where a mask wearing would have been most advantageous. Ironically our raft captain, Captain White wore his mask during our entire outdoor cruise. Captain White was fab as was the cruise. The same American guests delayed our departure by 45 minutes as they’d taken to a post raft chicken feast. Our return journey was filled with the sounds of a heavily breathing unmasked gentleman intermittently sucking on a sugar cain he’d procured post chicken banquet. A sugar cain his doctor would likely have advised against. Our driver did apologise for the behaviour of our American travel companions as a rapturous round of applause ripped around the bus.

Very relaxing experience. Everything went smooth from our transfer to the rafting itself. Both our driver (Ariel aka The Doctor) and our raft captain (no 56) were extremely nice and knowledgeable and definitely enriched the experience. The rafting took a little over an hour which actually flew by too quickly! Would definitely do it again.

Constantly feel that everyone from the driver to the raft captain want tip money, felt pressured on the way home to visit a local gift shop and spend money, the trip itself was enjoyable but ruined by pressurising staff

Perfect for couples and would have been the ideal relaxing trip, but probably not ideal for an active child, who got bored half way through the ride. Definitely take mosquito repellent.

We got harassed off driver to book more excursions through him which spoilt the experience, once we arrived at River it was amazing

Nothing special, a bit boring. The rafting at White River is much more enjoyable. Also didn't like the hard sale of their products and once we said we didn't want to buy the guy got an attitude.

Our time on the river was amazing. Relaxing and our guide was great! He helped my little one swim in the water and explained the local geography to us All in all brilliant day !! Highly recommend
