What to expect

Join us on this exciting adventure uncovering two of Madeira's best bits – its famous toboggan ride and the island's stunning views. Things get going with a scenic journey towards the jaw-dropping viewpoint of Pico dos Barcelos, where you can take in 360° panoramic views of the capital, Funchal. After admiring the views, you'll head to Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village, which Winston Churchill once painted during a holiday to Funchal. Enjoy some free time here before heading to the next show-stopper of the day – Cabo Girao. This place is perched at one of the highest sea cliffs in the world, and you'll have the chance to walk-out on to the glass walkway – be prepared for breathtaking views. Then it's time for the main event, as you slip and slide down the narrow streets in a toboggan. Sitting in a wicker basket mounted on wooden runners, two drivers guide the sled down through narrow streets, using their rubber-soled boots as brakes. Ernest Hemingway once described the experience as ‘exhilarating'. After your ride it'll be time to return to the ship.
