If the thought of stargazing at Sal's night sky has you starry eyed, then this evening activity is just for you. Cape Verde is a great location for star spotting, and this evening adventure for all the family includes stargazing with telescopes. Enjoy a welcome drink, buffet dinner accompanied by live local music, and then find out which planets and galaxies you can see in the sky above.The star-studded night sky is best viewed close to the equator, where both hemispheres are visible. You'll arrive to a beach restaurant just as darkness draws in, and after a welcome drink you'll sit down for a barbecue buffet. Tuck into a feast of local dishes to the sounds of live music, and with the help of telescopes, lasers and tablets, you'll see the moon, planets and more.With knowledgeable guides at hand, you'll learn how to recognise constellations at home. The tour ends with a 10-minute stroll on the sands, where you'll spot patterns with the naked eye. A unique yet educational way to spend a night in Sal.

The food was great but there were too few telescopes for the amount of people on this excursion. We had to wait ages for our turn and by the time we finally got to use the telescope it had clouded over so we saw no stars. Waste of time and money, might as well have stayed in our resort and wandered up the beach!

To be fair it was a cloudy night so there was no star gazing to be done on this occasion Positves: Bus was on time and staff were friendly. Blankets were provided Not so good: Welcome drink was awful, not advised if there was any alcohol content. Not advised to take suitable warm clothing Food was just OK, cold as soon as it was on your plate due to being outdoors. No regard for food allergies - nut based desert Couldn't hear guide due to wind Singer was in the dark due to electrical failure

Food not to my liking. Excellent presentation by astronomer very knowledgeable loved lookin at the stars and the planets a bit cold but blankets were provided overall an amazing experience. Would have preferred the stargazing without the food

Star gazing was very well explained and the staff were great .Really helpful when my granddaughter fell asleep making up a bed up on a sun bed with towels and offering to watch her whilst we got drinks . The food was ok but the wine was awful, which was a shame when everything else was nice

Food and drinks were good. Staff friendly. We were in a group of around 40 people and only 2 telescopes so basically had seconds to look at 3 planets. We missed the moon as it took too long. Ideally smaller groups or more telescopes needed to make the evening value for money. The main host kept getting the planets mixed up, we were viewing Jupiter but kept referring to it as Saturn. He informed the group afterwards that he was a marine biologist not an astronomer. We expected professionals.

The guides and star experience were good, engaging with my kids and tried to ensure all experienced the stars. Restaurant staff appeared to be more distracted by a “VIP” visit than looking after their paying guests. Whilst the food was good, it would have been nice to go round the buoy for seconds. I would have had a better experience by remaining at the hotel and going to the beach afterwards - the only thing missing would have been the guides knowledge and telescopes.

The Stargazing evening was really good. We would just say that the starter and dessert where very minimal. The stargazing experts were very good, the musician was very good too, transport to and from Kite beach was good too. All in alll a very enjoyable evening.

we did this excursion in dec 2023 and enjoyed it so much that we booked again. We were very disappointed this time - although the telescopes (2 this time) were set up well and seeing the moon and jupiter were a highlight we will never forget. However the guide and staff were less engaged with the audience...there was less information about the local foods, less stories about the myths and beliefs connected to the stars. It was difficult to hear in the wind ....and he wasnt checking on people

Not sure how much added value the meal was (it was the wekaest part of the evening). A later start without the meal (allowing guests to eat at their hotel) would be better. Group size was too large - long time waiting to view the telescopes.

Wonderful experience. I’ve never seen the night sky looking so beautiful. The guides were so knowledgeable and seeing the planets through a telescope was brilliant. We learnt a lot. Good food and drink too.

Apart from the heavy cloud cover which was unavoidable, the whole evening was really well put together. The food was great with a good variety to suit all tastes and the live music was lovely. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and fun and although we were unable to see much in the way of stars, we all came away a lot more educated than we started the night...some of the information was mind blowing!! Would highly recommend.

Was a lovely evening out with good food. However, we did let our Tui rep know in advance that we were both vegetarian. She phoned ahead to let the team know and we were assured this was all in hand. when we arrived, staff were not aware of this and served us a bowl of food without telling us what it was or asking for dietry requirementz first. We had to ask and were informed it was meat/fish. When we informed them we were vegetarian they were very quick to serve us a delicious vegetarian meal!

The staff were knowledgeable and happy to chat and explain what we could see. The group wasn't too big so we were all able to take our time at the telescopes. The food was delicious and traditional. Very enjoyable.

Very friendly , knowledgeable staff , buffet was good selection, some floor lighting , rope lights to and from entrance into Hut would be advantageous from a health and safety point of view , due to the steps up to the hut are a fall risk

The actual experience was fabulous, what let the evening down was we were told to be outside reception at 7 so waited early, by 7:20 we were thinking we had been forgotten, reception at hotel had no idea where the place was and hadn’t even heard of it, no TUI rep available , pick up eventually 19:28

The staff were amazing, we were well looked after and saw some amazing things. The telescopes were modern and very impressive. We saw planets, stars and galaxies The food was top notch as was the service. As someone with some mobility issues I am so recommend this to others with similar issues. Well worth doing and highly recommended

Staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. We were able to take photos of the moon thru their telescope. Only down side was the meal, which for my husband and I we didn't enjoy/ eat much, but I suppose at the end of the day it's local cuisine! and perhaps we had been spoilt by quality of food at Rui Cabo Verde

The subject was fascinating and the guides were knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. Their passion was evident and the whole experience was fun and informative. The meal was fresh and delicious and the staff helpful and friendly. Think the transport bus could have been better. My seatbelt wouldn't work.

Overall good. Food and drinks good. Staff very friendly and the star guides appeared very knowledgeable. No live music which was advertised but i guess things do happen at short notice But not really a 'dark sky' experience and i suggest you change the description OR the event. Not a dark sky given we 10 metres from the restaurant which still had lights on loads of guests using phones and flashes etc!! We did go the the beach for approx. 10 minutes but this was almost an add on.

It was great. The only issue was you couldn’t hear everything the guide said about the stars. He 100% needed a microphone. We were sat in a semi circle and when he turned his back to talk to one side of the group you couldn’t hear him, and other people thought that was not good too. My mum couldn’t hear anything as she has earring aids and the sea was sometimes a loud back noise. I hope they take this on board to make the night work better.

This has to be one of the best experiences we have had. Led by Geordy and his team, we were laughing and learning throughout the evening. Having local food and knowledge was a bonus. What you see is dependent on nature... ie cloud, bright moons, winds etc..but the team are so experienced they can adapt the evening. No question was too basic or too complex - they responded to everyone at the right level. It was magical - inspiring me to discover more. Thank you for this evening

Fantastic experience with the most knowledgable team you could ask for when it came to the stargazing. Some fantastic live music whilst we ate our food which was lovely local cuisine which we found to be the best food we ate all week. It was a beautiful location and experience like nothing we’d done before with the telescopes fantastic quality to be able to see the stars and planets above us with expert guidance.

We enjoyed the experience of stargazing and the guides were very knowledgeable about the planets and the solar system. Sharing two telescopes between all the party was a little slow at times. Also we did have some cloud cover which obviously couldn't be helped. This was the second attempt for our trip, the original booking was cancelled due to having total cloud. Food was good, a lovely evening out.

A fascinating, informative evening, the staff were so knowledgeable and made it fun as well. The food was excellent and the setting delightful. It was cloudy at times but we managed to see some planets. On the Ad it tells you to take warm clothes that’s not a joke it got very cold. If you’re going to any do this great value for money.

We did this trip when in Boa Vista so decided to do it when in Sal. The guide was very informative it was a very good evening. It has only been running for 2 months, would recommend it to have a close up view of the moon and also Venus via telescope was breath taking.

The overall process was nice, the staff was lovely, however it was really cloudy and couldn't see anything except for the moon. I would recommend if possible rescheduling the event in case it is really really cloudy, I believe there is weather info available at least 24hrs in advance, as this really defeated the very purpose of this event. Probably just unlucky this time ??

We enjoyed seeing the moon and some stars through the telescope however unlike in Boa Vista where my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter went 4 months ago, the experience in Sal was somewhat disappointing and did not meet my expectations. For example, unlike in Boa Vista, we were not given mats/blankets to lie on to look up at the stars and did not go further than outside the dining area for 20+ people to take it in turn to look through the one Telescope.
