What to expect

Set high in the canopy of the spectacular cloud forest, you'll find the world-famous Sky Walk Monteverde – a network of wooden suspension bridges, some as long as 170 metres and raised up to 60 metres above the forest floor.Enjoy unhindered views of the tropical ecosystem as your guide brings the forest to life by keeping an expertly trained eye out for wildlife – from chattering monkeys and elusive sloths, to the famous quetzal bird. Then, after exploring the treetops, you'll head for a freshly prepared lunch.Costa Rica is world-renowned for its fantastic coffee, and a trip to Monteverde would not be complete without experiencing some of the best coffee that the country produces. At the Don Juan coffee plantation, you'll witness how the beans are picked on the mountains of Monteverde, ultimately arriving in your coffee cup on the breakfast table.

Excellent

Although it was a long day and the minibus ride over bumpy roads was a bit arduous, the driver did skilfully miss most of them. The walk round the Monteverde cloud forest was worth it. The cloud forest was beautiful and peaceful and not at all busy. The long journey by road did give an opportunity to see a bit of the country too.

Great

The trip is too long. Should be advertised as 12 hours +. Ours was 14 hours door to door. The coffee , chocolate tour was interesting but also too long , needs to move a little quicker. Lunch was best ever tour lunch. Skywalk very nice , saw a Coati and Humming birds and some Scarlet Macaws on route.

Average

I thought that this was tour was over priced. The tour guide was pleasant and polite, but did not have the in depth knowledge that I would expect from a guide on a tour of this nature.

Excellent

We travelled from Guanacaste, it took 4 hours to get there, however, you get to see a lot of different countryside. First stop was the butterfly gardens, the guide was very knowledgeable and lots of butterflies ??. Then it was the sky walk, the temperature was definitely cooler but we were lucky as it didn’t rain but do be prepared. Wildlife was next to zero but the views were amazing. Lunch was fab. Don Juan was the final stop and this far exceeded our expectations. Overall great day out

Great

Didn’t like being picked up from Planet Hollywood at 07:15 to be taken to another pick up point where we changed minibus - waiting around at the second pick up point. Journey to Monteverdi is 3 hours with no breaks after the second pick up point. Monteverdi itself was great, with wonderful views and even sighting the elusive Quetzal bird. Guide was good. The group of us would have rather seen the sloths at Monteverdi rather than the butterflies. Lunch was good. Coffee tour was good.

Great

It was great to see the forest and scenery. Just not a lot of wildlife but that can’t be helped and is a long day but overall it’s a good trip

Excellent

Overall the holiday was a complete success. Not being very 'tech-savvy ' I found the Tui app easy to navigate and use. Updates on both departure times were helpful. We did have a delay of two hours leaving the UK, but this wasn't too bad. No delays at all on our return. It was a good hotel with excellent and friendly staff. The food choices were excellent but I would question the strength of the spirits used in drinks and cocktails. No nearby town, but we were aware of this when booking.

Excellent

The Skywalk and the visit to the Don Juan Coffee plantation was excellent. The guide was superb with his explanation of everything, even though we did not get to see much wildlife it was still a great experience. What we were disappointed with was the experience described that it would also include a visit to the Hummingbird gardens and we didn't go.

The guide was really good. The view from the bridges were amazing. Shame we went to an Italian Restaurant for lunch rather than having local food

Great

Once getting to the part of Monteverde where the walk and coffee plantation are the trip was very enjoyable, however the road from the Pan American highway to Monteverde was too much of a challenge for a minibus. The gravel track was deeply rutted and in parts washed away by heavy rains. Even the guide joked that in-between the potholes we might find a road. Perhaps jeeps or larger 4x4 vehicles would be a better option.
