What to expect
With bright coastal views, the rippling desert of Morro de Areia is the perfect place to get the adrenaline pumping with a 90-minute sandboarding experience. Boa Vista, which means "good view" in Portuguese, is the easternmost island of Cape Verde. It's known for its great beaches and patches of desert landscape. Jose, one of our expert local guides, says, 'Prepare to get very sandy on this exhilarating trip into Boa Vista's beautiful seaside nature reserve. But getting sandy is all part of the fun as you whizz down and clamber up the dunes.'Morro de Areia is one of the most prominent dune systems on the island and is especially known for its pristine and shifting sands. The scenic sand dunes that line the coast of Boa Vista have the added advantage that you can often see the coast from the higher dunes, and Morro de Areia is no exception. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you drive out across the sands, it's an exciting trip for both adults and kids as you roar across the dunes. The wild surroundings and fabulous views make the perfect backdrop for some unbridled fun. After a safety briefing and demonstration from your friendly instructors, have a go at surfing the dunes yourself. It's a brilliant way to get out into nature and see a different side of the island while enjoying a new experience which will have all the family whooping with excitement. Half-time refreshments are provided so you can rest and enjoy the sea view.

Really enjoy overall, pick up from the hotel to the place where sandboarding took place. Only down side would be not enough sandboarding, waiting for goes.. but the amount of the you have is more than enough!

The staff and setting were great. There was not enough equipment for the amount of people on the trip which, in turn, caused a lot of waiting around. Felt slightly over priced as it was a 5 min drive away and the session was very basic. Adding photos on as an extra cost too is annoying when paying so much

Very friendly and helpful staff. The location was absolutely breathtaking. Nothing was too much trouble for any staff member. Refreshments were a great idea after a few runs up and down the dune. Price of the professional photographs was great value for money and the pictures were amazing. I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone. My son and I will be talking about this for a very long time

A fantastic experience set across the beautiful sand dunes. A wonderful view to be had and the boarding itself great fun. My two children (5/10) could not get enough of it. Really friendly (local) guides helping you and the drive to the dunes in a Tui 4x4 jeep was just as much fun too!! Highly recommend for a short trip out of the hotel with children.

Had a great morning sand boarding! Friendly staff get an hour and a half sand boarding , photographer there that takes photos as going down great price for photos . Would 100% recommend just expect to get sandy!

Great experience. Around a 15 minute drive from the RIU Karamboa, guide was great once we arrived. Can have as many turns on the sandboard, refreshments provided also. There was also a chance to purchase photos which were great. 10/10 trip.

A fun morning keeping the kids active and entertained. Where a full day out is too long, this provides a few hours to step away from the hotel pool and try something different. The transfer was in one of the many TUI jeeps you see around, it was a fun ride to the site of the sandboarding. The instructions were simple, and the guides were fully engaged with us. The view was phenomenal, and after the walk back up the dune, drinks were provided. A very fun, active, and memorable few hours.

As with everybody we have met in Cape Verde the people that led this trip were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We all had a great time and that's no mean feat with a group of five ranging from 8 to 44 including two grumpy teenagers...everyone came back smiling.

This was a brilliant fun trip to do. Really great value for money. The guides were brilliant. Really friendly and helpful and the pictures they took (optional extra) were also great. Some fab action shots in there. Also on top of Sandboarding there were also some spectacular views of the island. Would definitely recommend.

We all really enjoyed the sandboarding. The only negative is that we paid for the photos and when they arrive via email link yesterday the majority of the photos were of a different family, I’ve emailed them requesting that they send the correct link but we’ve not heard back from them as yet. Is this something TUI could assist us with sorting out?

Great trip, loved every minute of it. Guides were great and really enthusiastic. Photographers was a great touch and got some brilliant pictures which I think the fee of £20 for all photos is reasonable. Walking up the dunes can be very tiering in the heat.

Pick up was a little confusing but once on our way the trip out to the dunes was exciting for our kids - off roaring across the dunes. Only 2 boards for our group which initially looked disappointing but was actually the perfect amount as it’s tiring climbing back up the dunes! Great fun whizzing down the dines, friendly and helpful guides and a beautiful location. You will het VERY sandy but that is all part of the fun. Photos worth buying afterwards.

The pick up bus from Touareg had mixed experiences. This included one to Sal Rei and one for sandboarding. The sandboarders were dropped off at the Karramboa Hotel to pick up another vehicle. The rep on the bus to the Karramboa spoke entirely in German aimed at all the passengers going to Sal Rei as they were all German and we had no idea until we got off the bus what was actually happening. He was very unprofessional. However Hugo who took over to take us sandboarding was excellent
