What to expect

Unleash your inner adventurer and experience the unparalleled beauty of the Norwegian forest on a hiking tour to Skjennungstoppen.

You'll begin your journey at the Tiger Statue outside the Oslo Visitor Centre at Jernbanetorget. You'll take a scenic train ride to Frognerseteren station, enjoying the stunning views as the train winds its way through the hills, leading you to the start of your hike.

From here you'll make your way through the lush green forest to the majestic Skjennungstoppen mountain. The trail offers a perfect balance of challenging terrain and peaceful pathways, as you hike through the stunning Norwegian wilderness. Once you reach the summit of Skjennungstoppen, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

In this part of the forest, you can find foxes, beavers, moose, deer, eagles, hares, and many other animals! You'll have two breaks at a "hytte" (traditional cabin): the cottage of Skjennungenstua and Ullevålseter. They serve great coffee and fresh pastry, such as freshly-made waffles, served with jam and sour cream or Norwegian brown cheese. You'll also visit the geographic center of Oslo, which is located right in the middle of the forest.

You end the hike at the always stunning Sognsvann Lake, take the metro line back to the city, and finish your trip at Jernbanetorget.
