Your tour will be led by an expert local guide with unrivalled knowledge of Malaga

What to expect

From big city to quaint whitewashed village, you'll experience both sides of life on the Costa del Sol. In Malaga, you can shop-till-you-drop, explore the old town or visit one of the many art museums. A change of pace in Mijas sees you stroll flower-festooned streets and enjoy peaceful sea views. Antonio, one of our local guides, says ‘Malaga cathedral is a must-visit, if only to see the hand-sculpted choir stalls. There should be two towers, but construction funds were sent to American revolutionaries, and the second tower was never completed. So now locals affectionately call the cathedral “La Manquita” – the one-armed lady.'First up, we'll head for Malaga, where you'll soon see this is a city on the rise. Winding streets crammed with tapas bars run alongside historic monuments, and a newly spruced-up port area, Muelle Uno, serves up plenty more stylish places for a drink or a meal. You'll have free time to visit the Centre Pompidou, shop in the designer outlets of Calle Larios or admire art exhibitions. Pablo Picasso was born here and there's a museum packed with works of his near the Roman Theatre. In the afternoon, we change gear with a visit to the quaint mountain village of Mijas. Wandering sleepy cobbled streets, you can pick-up handmade ceramics or pay a visit to one of the world's smallest chocolate factories. Once you've browsed the boutiques and backstreets, take a break in a café or enjoy countryside vistas rolling down to the coast from one of the panoramic viewpoints.

This was one of the few experiences with hotel pick-up in Nerja. It was a great introduction to Mijas and Malaga. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept up a running commentary in both English and German. We liked the short walking tours which helped with our orientation and the maps given to us were very useful. Would definitely recommend.

The excursion pick up was not at the correct location for us so we missed most of the day to Malaga and we had to get a taxi there

Excellent trip. Our tour guide Carmen gave us lots of good information about Mijas and Malaga. We loved both places. Malaga is very lively and vibrant city and Mijas has is a beautiful traditional white Spanish village with lots of lovely shops and places to eat. We will definitely go to both places again but stay longer.

Great

Trip to Mijas was really enjoyable, the tour guide was exceptional. Not a big fan of cities, so Malaga wasn't the highlight of the trip for me, although I enjoyed the wander around the central area

Great

All services were punctual and the guide and driver were excellent. I would have preferred more time in Mijas and less in Malaga, perhaps allowing time for lunch in Mijas. A big negative for us was the dual language nature of the tour - English / German. This wasn’t advertised in the description and certainly detracted from the enjoyment.

Mijas was beautiful and could really spend a few hours there, not just 1.5. A half day tour recommended. 3 hours in malaga is no where near enough. You need a good full day. The tour guide gave us maps on places of interest to visit, but there was no time, especially if you wanted lunch (which the whole coach did) and to shop. You need at least 2 hours to go around the fort got lost and totally ran out of time. Next time I'll get public transport

Excellent

The guide was very knowledgeable but she spoke very quickly and because English isn’t her first language it was difficult to understand her at times. The coach was clean and comfortable with a lovely driver. We enjoyed both Mijas and Málaga, they were very different and that made the trip more enjoyable. We much prefer trips without a meal included as this one was, as the venues and quality of the meals are often poor. We would recommend this trip as being good value for money.

Easy to book using Tui app. Great communication online prior to trip. Guide and driver excellent, lots of information. Malaga was well worth the trip and had lots of time to explore. Shame about the weather for Mijas even the donkeys had gone home!

Highly enjoyable day. Tour guide Nadine was outstanding. Though not obliged to,she gave a guided tour around both Mijas and Malaga to those who wished to participate. Otherwise you could explore on your own with the provided maps.

Really enjoyed the excursion. Carmen was our guide and she was excellent. We started in Mijas with a 20 minute guided tour and then around 90 minutes free time. Mijas is a beautiful mountain village with lots of shops and restaurants. We then headed to Malaga for a 20 minute guided tour and then around 2.5 hours free time. In all we were away from the hotel for around 8 hours. Excellent day out and great value. I would highly recommend.

Our Guide and coach driver were brilliant. Carmell was extremely knowledgeable and spoke clearly and precisely throughout. She also had a very good sense of humour. The contast between Malaga and Mijas is not to be missed. This excursion covers everything from shopping, history, architecture culture and cuisine

Great

I enjoyed both Places we visited, , the guide was very good, very informative, I enjoyed that she pointed out places of interest & that we could explore individually. I would have preferred the tour to have been in each individual language.l also we had to wait at both places for the coach drive, after our first stop he had taken on another pick up & caught in traffic & second visit he got the pick up time wrong ?? by an hour!

Great

Unfortunately the weather was awful - raining and windy. In Malaga we managed to visit the museum and cathedral so escaped the worst of the rain. But we had to wait in the rain for the bus to return. In Mijas, there wasn’t anywhere indoors to go so we ended up sitting in a restaurant then a coffee bar before we could get back on the bus. I know days like this are probably very rare, but it would be an idea to have a contingency plan for days when it’s so wet and windy that walking around is not a pleasurable experience!
