What to expect
Visit the famous Loch Ness and travel through the beautiful Highlands of Scotland on this day trip from Edinburgh. Your tour will set off from Edinburgh, headed towards Stirling. Along the way you'll see Stirling Castle as well as the Wallace Monument. The bus will continue towards Callander for a morning coffee stop before moving northwards into the Highlands. You'll pass over Rannoch Moor and stop for photos at the foreboding Pass of Glencoe. Your guide will also share the haunting story of the famous 1692 massacre.The bus will cross Loch Leven at Ballachulish and stop in the Fort William area for lunch. Next, you'll follow the Caledonian Canal up the Great Glen to Fort Augustus on Loch Ness. At the Loch, you have the choice of going on an hour-long cruise or simply taking a walk around. Watch out for the monster!Afterward, you'll begin your return trip to Edinburgh. You'll pass by Loch Laggan, which was used as the set for Monarch of the Glen, and stop in the picturesque village of Pitlochry. You'll have a chance to stroll through this delightful Victorian resort town before heading past Perth, going through the Kingdom of Fife and finally crossing the Forth Road Bridge.

De gids en chauffeur Ian is een topper! Heel erg enthousiast, vol energie verteld hij over wat er allemaal te zien is en over de geschiedenis van de omgeving. Bovendien is hij een zeer ervaren chauffeur bij wie de veiligheid voorop staat.

Vervallen kasteel aan de loch niet gezien, reisweg was niet helemaal zoals beschreven. Pitlochry dorpje niet langs gereden. We hebben geen spijt van de reis maar de beschrijving van deze uitstap is misleidend.

Een prachtige manier om veel van de Schotse Hooglanden en Lochs te zien. Het is een pittige bustocht, maar je ziet ondertussen veel. Wij hadden tourleider Willie die vol enthousiasme veel informatie gaf. Voor ons soms wat veel, maar dat komt omdat het best vermoeiend is voor ons nieuwe informatie in het Engels te krijgen. Een tip van ons, neem een tablet tegen wagenziekte in mocht je gevoelig zijn. Er zijn veel bochten en wat hobbels. Overigens allen even vaardig genomen door de chauffeur!

An excellent excursion run by Grayline Scotland took us on a wonderful one-day round trip to Loch Ness and back via some of the most wonderful and spectacular scenery. Being driven (versus hiring a car) lets you truly relax and concentrate on watching the world go by. Brilliant and recommended!
